In my lifetime i have seen (and for some, seen dissapeared):
One-armed bandits
Penny pushers
Bar-X introduction
AWP fruit-machines
Multi-player arenas
Virtual gambling machines
I was just wandering how long it would be before Fruities dissapear completely??
Its not looking good to be honest. My local Coral had 3 decent fruities 2 yrs ago. It now had 1 shit one, with 3 virtual gambling machines. Most bookies don't even bother about fruities nowadays.
Amusement chains seem to have had enough to, with bar-x and party-time styly arenas taking over.
The introduction of American style casinos I believe will finally see the destruction of "seaside arcades", leaving just pubs (luckily i'm a pisshead then!)
Seriously though, i give it 2 years

I can see more of the 'skill stop' fruit machines coming out, as they are license free. Although I've never played one [or seen one clearly], I know theres a couple in kebab shops in town on £25, and some have been on eBay.
FOBTs [Fixed Odds Betting Terminals, i.e Roulette machines] will no doubt be rolling into pubs shortly aswell. What I would consider playing in a pub would be a virtual horse racing FOBT with a maximum stake of 10p per race

Comparing newer machines to older ones, what with no playability and bloody mindedness that can suck £100 in without so much as a sniff of a Jackie these days....then I'm afraid that they have already died!!
Still there's always MFMEv2

Hmm...they have died in local pubs [I still have Each Way Nudge at £5/10p on a pub that can't sustain a £25 JP machine], but if they have 'died', why can I go into a Wetherspoons and find 8 machines?
To a machine 'enthusiast', they are dead, lifeless sh**e, but to a gambler, no doubt on a maxed out overdraft and credit cards coming out of their ears, they might be their last chance to make some cash [or not as the case will often be!]
Even looking at machines literally makes me sick now. Disgusting pieces of fitlh. Who would think that you could take £400 a month from a £15 AWP? I did!
Take arcade owners. They can take [and this ISN'T an exaggeration], £200+ from a Party Time Arena per day. If that isn't fu**ing disgusting, money for sitting on your arse ripping off people who don't know better, I don't know what is

Anyway, back on topic, they have died in gameplay, style, e.t.c., but live on with a vengeance for ripping people off

pubs wont get rid of the fruit machine because it makes so much money from them.
the section 16 machines (licence free with a 500 quid jackpot seems to be the way its going looking at what the atei show at earls court was displaying this week!!!
btw
barcrest have bought the rights to the elvis recording franchise so watch out for some elvis themed fruities coming soon.

Maybe the mfr's knew their days were numbered due to the emergence of the FOBT back in 2001, so they've been playing like shit since then, to grab as much as possible from punter and pro alike......they have died in gameplay, style, e.t.c., but live on with a vengeance for ripping people off...
Me, I hope they do die out soon, as that would mean two things:-
1. I'd actually get my life back again;
...and...
2. It would mean MPU5/Scorp3-4/Epoch would be emulated all the sooner

Wadda we want? SPIKER THE BIKER!!! When do we wannit? SOON AFTER ALL FRUITIES ARE REPLACED BY FOBT's!!!*
*repeat as necessary

Hmmm. Interesting. I'm rarely in the bookies myself, so i have hardly ever seen on of these FOBT's, though i have seen some. But my point is that every pub you go into in Central Scotland has a puggy (or two) sitting there, and maybe a quiz machine. What i mean is that the fruit machine scene in this area does not seem to be dying at all. Sure, they are shit for professional gamblers, who want to empty them every day, but for the casual gambler, who maybe sticks a tenner in, hoping to win the Jackpot or something, they aren't that bad. I for one don't care if the people who ripped machines for years, are getting caned now. Serves tham right. lol. And away from the pubs, the club machine scene is still thriving. Club Fruities were at there best maybe 7 or 8 years ago, but since then have only dropped slightly in terms of gameplay. (unlike their AWP counterparts). How many clubs still have an original Club Cops 'n' Robbers? Quite a few i'll bet. Basicly while the AWP scene may be dying slightly, the Club Scene isn't, and for that reason i don't see fruities dying any time soon. And neither do Barcrest, else would they have bought Maygay et al?

So now the entire Pub sector is run by BFM/Mazooma, and Barcrest Group. I'm not surprised they bought Maygay et al, I bet it was a bargainAnd neither do Barcrest, else would they have bought Maygay et al?[/b]

going by what i have seen regarding the barcrest takeover of maygay is as follows....
extreme, impulse and maygay are still operating independantly but are using the technology from barcrest for the one reason that the barcrest technology is the most reliable technology out there.
the maygay technology has had major technical flaws from day one which has never ever been sorted(this is from an engineers point of view).
power supplies = bollocks
i have seen the new maygay, impulse and extreme gaming machines in the new horizon barcrest cabinet and they are verey very good.
yes it ends up with mainly barcrest and bellfruit left in the technology market but personally i see that as a good thing because they are the most reliable.

Sorry guys....When I mentioned that fruities had died..I meant in the terms of gameplay I wouldn't touch one now with a shitty stick...honest!! Simply because that unless you have am unlimitless wallet then you may lose your entire wages...and I sincerely hope that no-one here is that stupid. Can you imagine how many good nights out you could have if you simply stopped playing? 18 months and counting for me!!!

This is not true. Barcrest have purchased all of the IP belonging to those three brands from Leisure Link. All games being branded as Extreme/Impulse/Maygay are actually games made by Vivid/Red/Barcrest (I believe that it's respectively although not 100% sure on that one). As far as I'm aware 100% of the development teams who worked on Maygay group reel based products were made redundant. (Yes, I was one of them grrr...)

I've got one of those - ie, un-limit-less, ie, limited (study double negatives)......unless you have am unlimitless wallet...
'IP'?...purchased all of the IP belonging to those three brands...

Yes, sorry. Such things as branding/trademarks, software, and artwork but not physical things like real estate and equipment.

Which machines can take 100 quid and not give you a decent amount back?
How are you playing those machines?
