couldn't believe it when i read it, she `definitely knocked him off` but when she appeared live on TV she only made him wobble on his bike.

just incase your wondering, the police are pressing charges, she lost her job and passers by caller her a cyclist killer among other names.

if the story is true then i think she deserves whats coming to her ?

Why?, I am both a driver and a cyclist.

I read that link and the cyclist said.....

.

He posted on Facebook: "Oh hi! That was me you hit and FYI, you didn't knock me off, I'm too hard to be hurt by a pissy micra or whatever it was you were driving."

Then when the media became involved his attitude changed totally (having read further on)...symphathy?

Some motorists can be right idiots, shame there are twice as many riders that use the law of the road when it suits them.

Cyclist's obey the laws of the road!...

in my opinion, cyclists should not be on the road for their own safety they should ride on the pavement at peak times. Does my nut in, theres always one that sails right out in front of you and they start riding right in the central road then you have to brake and slow down. Roads were built for cars, don't know why riding on the pavement is so frowned upon, its so much safer than the road.

totally agree , and i do when i can , i usually start on the road until i get someone cutting me up or scarring the **** out of me and then its on the empty pavement , where the public take great offence to you riding there , no matter how big or unused or how slow you pass them they always feel the need to express their disgust , but in saying that i've had grief in a cycle lane , I think bike riders should be applauded as they have 0 emissions and while a car makes you fat this runs on fat ;D

Holland have the right idea

Wish I could jump red lights, turn without indicating, swerve into the path of someone going ten times faster than me, ride along the pavements without a care for anyone else, go the wrong way along a one way street, drive in a pedestrian only zone. Sadly this will never happen as I drive a car and I'm not a prick on a pushbike.

Some years ago I was walking in the high street with the wife when a cyclist going against the flow of traffic rode up onto the pavement and headed straight for us. The wife went to move out of the way but I told her to stand her ground. This caused the cyclist to stop as there wasn't any room to pass us. It was at this point that he made a very very stupid mistake, He called me a c**t for not letting him pass. Call it instinct or whatever but I chinned him and knocked him off his bike, I then picked up his bike and threw into the road where it belonged. So please all those who think it is ok to cycle on the footpath, carry on but never cross my path.

so what your saying is if another walker would have come towards you , you would have got out of the way ,so on seeing a bike you go out of your way to cause an altercation ? very weird behaviour why not just get out of the way ?? ,you sound like a right !"£!"£!"£!"£!  lets hope our paths never meet ;)

and as for wishing to jump red lights etc you can buy a bike and ride it , but just remember there is people like you about . and i have never saw a car jump a red light ... oh wait .

and lets wonder why bikes ride on the pavement ? most likely reason is they have been knocked off their bike , or a near miss , maybe some idiot decides to shout abuse , there are many reasons as a bike rider i dont feel safe on a road , and yes i do meet a lot of people like you who deliberately stand in the way etc , but we have a massive cycle lane on the wirral and the same people who complain you are riding on the pavement walk straight through a cycle lane , let there dogs walk there , kids etc so it works both ways , and like i stated before i start on the road until some idiot (who always says "i never saw you") nearly kills me .

I'd like to ad the majority of drivers give you the space and time you need but it only takes one .

Oh and if it makes you happy i once got an £80 fine for using the pavement , a price worth paying if you ask me .

Round where I live, bikes are allowed to share pavements, and has a sign of pedestrians and bikes with not always a separate line either.

Like all things its a minority of bike users that piss off car drivers and vice versa.

Its just like car drivers vs van/HGV drivers its never gonna be 100% harmony  ( human nature! )

What frightens me the most is the number of cyclists who think red lights don't apply to them.  On the slip road where I get off the dual carriageway on my way to work there is a junction that is completely blind both left and right and is a 50 zone.  Last week a cyclist just casually rode through a red light and crossed this junction in front of me.  If he'd been just a second later then he'd be dead now no question.

I find it incredible they don't have to take any kind of road test or at the very least pass some kind of safety exam.

all too frequently i see cyclists go right through red lights, pedestrian crossings nor do they signal or wear efficient lighting.

used to be a keen cyclist but i was never as bad as them. i was brought up with the green cross code man!

Had it of been another walker I would have made way for them, why should I get out of the way for some moron on a bike riding on the pavement (which carries a £30 fine as it is illegal to ride on a public footpath).

I take it you think it is ok to break the law. I too hope that ours paths never cross because I don't think there would be room for your big headed negative views for us to safely pass.

£30 fine????? Maybe they should take on account safety, that sometimes it more safer to ride on the pavement than on the road. Yes we do get idiots that ride along the footpath at great speeds thinking they're some kind of track but if you ride slowly and carefully where roads are busy especially at peak time should be acceptable.

I rode a bike for many years ( no not a pennyfarthing dachs), shopper, racing, tandem and mountain bike. I wouldn't go out on one nowadays, it's too dangerous. I'm a motorist now and I give way to cyclists, motorcyclists and horse riders. However I do find some cyclists tend to become more aggresive on footpaths and pedestrian areas. My perception only, therefore I do find it a bit of a ****er when someone on a bike gets so close to me, they rip my shoe off with their front tire. No i didn't punch their lights out!!!!!! I'll get over it...perhaps :)

I used to ride a bicycle to/from work and most of the time only rode on pavements after work @11pm as bike lights were temperamental but if people were on pavement I used to either get off my bike or go onto road, but in todays uncaring society cyclists use the road dressed in black no lights or bomb along the pavements weaving in and out of the pedestrians or cycling towards oncoming traffic, and with the lights they use those annoying flashing red lights which I thought were illegal without a solid red back light but obviously not. Also the same can be said for moblity scooters they're just as annoying on pavement or in the middle of road.
The more I do today, The less I do tomorrow.

There's no shortage of idiots around, but this is independent of their mode of transport. If you're a prat then you'll be a prat whether on foot, bike, motorbike or car.

As there's no space to add additional, properly separated by a kerb bike lanes in the UK (unlike the Netherlands where they have this space in most large cities at least) then we'll all just have to try and get along without running each other over or assaulting one another :).

To answer the original question, yeah if you admit to a crime on a public forum of some kind then you deserve all you get as that's just dumb.

It is when they think they can call me a c**t for not moving out of the way. I wasn't the twat breaking the law to start with. I would not have retaliated in a violent way had he not called me a c**t for standing my ground. You really need to get off you high horse and take a chill pill ffs.
