Epoch spares finally arrived, and have changed ALL of the boards.

Was a struggle to get it to boot to start with (Kept getting a strim error, but eventually sorted it, swapping the mech with ACE Cash Raider, and BOTH now work, and also fixed a reboot fault with CR to boot), but finally got it working..... sort of.

I can not for the life of me get it to go in to test mode (Test credits or full test mode), one lamp is out (£1 cash / Bart), one is running dim (Right corner, 4th one down / Lisa +1), and now the alpha has just died on me, along with a dead hopper.

Now I have checked the obvious like dead bulbs, ran BOTH lamp boards etc, but I am pretty much out of ideas what to check next.

Anyone got any ideas, apart from Player's fave epoch dismantling tool?

test mode, press the small round grey button on the main motherboard at the same time as the red (could be green) button on the hopper.

If I had a brain, I would be dangerous!

Bang on correct there bud, and in to test mode as we speak..... I was thinking along the lines how it's done on Barcrest MPU4, or JPM Impact..... DOH!

Hopper I have now managed to get working after wiggling a few wires on the hopper board.

Unfortunately I still have the Alpha issue (Bulb issue is now fixed), so I have got two possible ways to help things......

Can either go over to this arcade in Beeston that has the same machine and I so happen to be on good terms with the owner, and get some pic's done of the wiring connections to be sure.....

Other solution, is a member over at DAD's has an epoch based machine I helped repair a while back who lives almost next door to my Niece's school in town, so I could test the lamp boards in her machine, and see if that does anything different.

One thing I would like to ask folks..... If anyone has either hi-res scans or the actual £10 decal set (Bottom Glass + top cash section on Bart), I am in desperate need for them.

Stan becareful fella swaping over that Lamp driver I/O pcb as the pcb could be knocking diodes out also giving the alpha display a pulse to the driver/controler ic. It mite take your friends lamps and alpha out.

Or in worst case its the stake and prizes pcb pulling down or taking out the Lamp driver I/O pcb or another pcb even. Have had to just do a complete swap over of all pcb`s to just sort the bugger out.

I would if I had them. Any chance of scans for the £15 set? Mine only has the £5 set with it.

Ahhhh, you have the same problem as me, only I have got some crappy home brew ones made, although they are not as bad as some I have seen, they do still look rough.

Can you do me a favour though..... take a pic of your lamp driver PCB for me, so I can double check I have wired everything up right?

That is exactly what I have done with this new Epoch PCB set I got sent from the chap in Derby..... changed the lot, including the MK1 PCB in the PSU.

Got some spare boards left over (6-reel and LED PCB, and what I can make out, a hopper board of some description, but I have already changed one..... poss to do with machines with a note acceptor?), so certainly on the spares front, this seller has been quite good, and can tell you with exception of probably the Epoch board itself (It still works 100% though), all parts are brand new.

The lamp board you especially can tell is new, as it still has that new sheen look to it, and has onestop's web address printed on it.

One thing I want to ask folks..... on the MKII PSU PCB, +24v is not lit but on the MKI it does, however I am sure I read somewhere that on the MKII boards in some cases of normal operation, this is perfectly normal and expected..... Is this right, as no matter on either version of the PCB with exception to the Alpha issue, machine works as expected?

If you have used the onestop pcb which has stronger power transisters thats bloody odd.Cant remember how many bulbs you said have gone out? . The only other thing i can think of with the alpha is its controller ic or there is some thing else pulling it down. As for the PSU that sounds right. hmmmm bang head on wall shouting out i love epoch .
