Those molded % keys are just the pins soldered together in the config it needs, so just use a standard table that shows which pin config is for 70% and its good to go, providing your actual game supports 70% if not use 72%

It only uses 5 of the 9 pins.  one common, 4 selects.

Just watch out - I know you want to use it as a savings bank, but 70% could be a pretty awful game, especially if it's a later rechip with increased jackpots, or you are playing with a high stakes / prizes ratio (for example, 10p / £8 rather than 20p / £6). For home use I tend to keep mine at 78>84% for a high-tech machine, and 84% and upwards for a lo-tech. On clubbers I normally go higher, due to the VERY long profile on them. My Club Clouseau is currently at 90% for example, while my Chuzzy Bar X is on 88%.

For example, you can stake £10 on 70% and might not even get a board. You can stake the same £10 on 84% - maybe you do get a board. If you want to use the machine as a savings bank, just collect the wins and put them back in. You still 'save' the same amount of money in the machine, but you should have more fun playing it. I find the more fun you have, the more you will find yourself playing them, as you'll be more 'engaged'.

Obviously if you are running it on 70% to make money from other players, that's a different story and illegal unless you have the relevant permit and the machine was correctly stickered up (category, stake, prize, percentage, e.t.c.).

One interesting side effect you often get with variable keys, is that if you run them at a low percentage for along period of time (I'm talking hundreds of pounds of plays as a minimum), then bang the percentage up, the machine can go a bit mental. I was probably a bit overly dismissive of running your machine at a lower percentage last night - there's no reason you couldn't try different settings and see how you get on, obviously if you did find it playing crap on 70% you could then change it back up to 78% or higher. Just don't be surprised if it plays quite a bit worse on 70% :)

I've run my viva espana at 70% for 50.000 spins :D cranked it up to 90% and it was still dead as a doh doh for about 4 days ;) it did eventually go stupid and empty the £1 coin tube and most of the tokens that was in it.
