Weird, not aware of any changes from The Gaming Board of Great Britain, or BACTA, that would allow it.

Maybe it was classed as Amusement rather than Amusement with Prizes - for example, you buy 100 tokens for £1, and keep playing until you have fook all left. Mind you, thats pretty pointless from a Multiplayer where the operator could make 100x as much using the AWP version.

Don't suppose you know what the tokens were exchangable for, or how much the stake/jackpot [even if it is just tokens] was?

This reminds me of an arcade i was in in America. Now since gambling is illegal in Florida, the slots took quarters and paid out tokens. No probs said me, ill jst put the tokens back in. But, alas! the tokens didn't fit the slot. (obviously, else this would have been a gamble). But when you get paid out somethin you can't put back in, then you feel cheated. I would imagin these machines aren't well played?

Trust me, if machines actually paid out Beer Tokens [i.e about £2.40 JP] around here, and say 10p play, I would be totally addicted all over again :)

Now thats a good idea for a new pub machine.
Somehow i think that alcohol concern charities and the like would want it banned :(

....I reckon people are even worse off on the current '£75 Streakpot' machines in pubs, which pretend to have a £25 jackpot :)

I can see where you are coming from though....maybe if it was a Beer OR Fruit Juice token? :D

Tokens were exchangeable for prizes ranging from sweets to hifi's etc

jackpot was 500 tokens...whatever that is in cash..feck knows..so ask him.!

I spent more time racing the MG around the virtual tracks....and getting the shit knocked outta me in the Space Shuttle simulator.....

Hmm...I do remember, wasn't it just Viva Las Vegas 6 with a top box or something like that?

If you take a machine I did a layout for a while back, Fruit and Loot, that used to pay out 'Prize Cards' - but did still have a cash JP. You just took the card to the change booth and exchanged it for some manky corroded carriage clock :D

Spend Spend Spend was mentioned a couple of posts back, I remember that from Bridlington and it still has some prizes in it - but I've never won a prize or seen anyone else do so.

Did they ever chip the 'prizes' out of machines like that?

to be fair though, i once won a Joe Bloggs t-shirt and a hand held, 5 card stud poker game from one of these. The game still works, even though it's about 8 years old.

Dunno bout the T-shirt tho. Was the wrong size, but the machine wouldn't take it back and change it

i took some pictures of a bwb spend spend spend at the weekend, it didn't have a prize box but at the top was a glass panel that said £4 jp that looked like it could of been a prize box originally.

i also remember a game called whats on that had a prize box.
