English rocker Jon Lord, who founded Deep Purple and co-wrote their most famous song, Smoke On The Water, has died aged 71.

Didn't know about that Cashbox1. Oh what. The rockers of the 70's are clocking up the miles these days. Jet Black drummer of The Stranglers is in his mid 70's and still going (almost).
I only saw Deep Purple once when they promoted the 'Burn' album. One of the loudest groups about in their day. His keyboard skills on the hammond organ were just amazing. Rock Legend.

RDP i saw them in birmingham, all of them well into their 60`s,but they could still cut it then - a sad loss to the music business
