Hi
Does anyone have Bar X sounds files or a link to any emulator which might use them. Cyberslotz has a bar x but it does not have the whoosh
nudge intro which is the sample I really need
Chris Beasley
anyone with questions about emulation of our products please leave me a message

Hi mate. Welcome to the Forums.
Nice to see someone from the fruit machine industry not being too miffed at seeing some of their machines being emulated.
95% of people that use the emulator are using it to play old fruit machines from the past that they remember when they were younger.
Not to find emptiers and loopholes in the machine code.
I am not sure how long you've been following FME, but Empire used to support the emulation of their machines until some of their newer Impact machines were emulated without their permission.
After that happened, they stopped supporting FME and withdrew their support which was a big shame.
The links for all the sounds are now working again, but the sounds that they have got on the site don't sound anything like Big 7.

I don't remember Empire ever using Impact, AFAIR it was the MPU4 machines in Genesis cabinets....
..Anyway, would you be able to manipulate recorded sound? I'm sure that either in an arcade, or if you hired one for a bit, you could get hold of the sounds, and tidy them up on computer?

Most of their machines were MPU4. But they also used the Imapct tech for some of their newer machines. That's what made them ditch their support for FME.

Another way (bit roundabout, but I imagine it would be quite effective...) would be to download MAME v0.84, plus the ROMs for Defender (Red Label), start recording "What U Hear" on your soundcard software, play the game, and press fire and wait until you've got enough of the 'whoosh' sound, or at least the first half......would you be able to manipulate recorded sound?...
Then, after exiting the game, edit the resulting waveform so you've got just the 'whoosh' and none of the other crap, copy the clip to the end of itself, and reverse that copy.
Finally, bass it up a bit using EQ rewrite, and you should have a fairly good simulation.

Bit late with that, it's already gone...There is a bar x sound board on ebay...
You could still contact 'keverton2001' for a possible ROM rip, though...
