My internet connection has finally gone from this:

I'm trialling BT's new fibre to the home product.

I get the service free until October and then they'll pay me £100 to tell them how much I like/dislike the service.

So far everything is OK, just need to reconfigure all my devices.

Awesome speeds, good you got free trial and £100 for the pleasure but i bet price will be high for them speeds.

Whaaaaaa...10meg upload speed lol..nice one Wish VM would get the finger oot and increase my upload speed to the 3meg ive been waiting on since forever.

Infact...according to this my area is one of the few still waiting to be done..'being planned' wtf is that meant to mean ??

The upload is invaluable to me as it means I can upload things to FE much faster. Currently I'm getting 11Mbit to the FE server and BT say I should be able to get 30Mbit upload.

Considering this myself right now, but unsure if my area is going only fibre to street cab, or direct to home, but in any case, new street cabs are going in right now, with the date of dec 1st for it to go live.

I was surprised when we got FTTP/FTTH to be honest I thought our area was only getting FTTC, which I believe is limited to 40Mbit down.

Its about time there was an alternative to Virgin (NTL), Though got to hand it to them they did introduce super high speed to the UK.

For BT this is a big big commitment...make-or-break?

Lets go back only 2 decades, they were the monopoly in communications...things altered no end on our (the customer) side of things and they dragged their knuckles.....Phone boxes started to be dismatled as they didn't warrent being there as we bought mobiles and other devices.

BT is an institution, whereas is Royal Mail too, and the freeing-up of their bloodlines being legally hijacked by other operators really screws the veins to distruction.

I only hope that with BT making this massive and welcome investment they are not held to ransom in allowing the cable to be hijacked by their 'peers'

250 is twice as fast as my samsung f3! can you imagine the internet bottlenecking because the HD cant write fast enough!

was never really an internet speed freak, just been given the free upgrade to 30mb and im already thinking it could go faster. i have as most noticed that downloads from torrent sites can (not always)be significantly slower due to their data management.

are their any work arounds, other than a seed box?

Dunno if this is meant to work Nails..ive heard a few ppl talking about it on broadband forums..some get results others dont.
