Hi all, im looking at buying a holy grail from a company but wish
to change it over to an elvis or a rainbow in maybe 6 months time.
Apparently the pc is already loaded with all the games i need in B3 and Cat C and D which is all good.
Ive been told that in order to change a game over (not worried about glass) from B3 to B3 from holy grail
to rainbow for example is just the pic chips ONLY.
Is this correct?
Ive been told by the company that if i ever needed to change it, just turn it off, put in new pic chip
and upload another game from inside the pc and away you go.
What im asking you guys is it that simple?
Ive been told by barcrest that it may not be as it depends if the pc has a battery fitted.
If it has, it may not work or vice versa.
Im pretty sure it will be ok but just wanted some expert advice first about this battery business.
Its all very confusing and obviously dont want to buy it if im gonna get lots of problems.
I just simply want a machine, so when i get bored i can order new chips and change it over with no hassle.
Any help would be much appreciated from somebody who knows what they are talking about.
Kind Regards. Jon.

I would Imagine that is the case, if you have the program card, black box that plugs onto MPU, You just swap game and correct card onto MPU and away you go,

I swapped my MK5 boards around ie elvis from grand casino vice vera loaded game and played, by just swapped the card that has a usb wire attched to MPU5.

There will be others with much better knowledge than me.

If you got a machien with all the games on it and buy more game cards it should work fine.

Unless there are problem with older models ?????

by the time you have upgraded the pc (easy) and then obtained a rainbow riches program card (not so easy) its easier to just sell the machine and get a new one.

i would not have thought for a second that barcrest would have told you it will be down to a battery??????????????????

at the end of the day, if you buy a holy grail, it stays a holy grail.

it's not so much down to the battery. for the newer games with a battery fitted to the mpu program card i believe that thease are flash memory game modules and are changed with a memory card. the older ones are eprom based and would need chips burnt afaik.

So when you say a programme card, is that not the pic chip then?
Surely if the pc has all games already on it, then its a case of changing pic chips only???
Need some more help guys please???
