When I try different roms in my single sit down Red Hot X unit I am getting ERR 41, I presume this is the security error do to the cctalk update. Is there a way to upgrade my scorp 5 board so it can run the cctalk updated roms? Basically I am looking at converting this unit to a single player Red Hot Monopoly or the Red Hot X equivalent that doesn't require a top box.

Eror 41 sounds like a hopper error to me. All error around the 40 has something to do with payout. As regards to updating to cctalk. Scorpion 5 boards only support cctalk. Scorpion 4 boards are parallel.

I thought there was some type of security update to cctalk which later sc5 roms take advantage of? My board is from 2003.
Appreciate the info.

As i am aware from,
Scorpion 5 boards are all the same. The roms could have updated software to take advantage of security like connection coin mechs sr5i to the new encrypted sr5e coin mech to stop de-fraud. The same with note acceptors like lumina's which are at mac 28 at the moments. The scorpion boards are generic.
There is a wiring mod on scorpion 4 boards. but that is only to bypass the onboard battery on program card which flags up when low (error 9)

Hi, so it may be that my coin mech is one that this software is not liking. Will check what it is when I get back, I believe its connected via a serial cable to the main scorp5 board. I don't have a note acceptor installed, the cable is connected to the main board but no actual note acceptor.
Also are the game cards protected in any way? Or is it just a case of changing the roms and plugging in?
Appreciate the info on the coin mech/note acceptor, many thanks

sorry i didnt mention it before. There is a security chip much like the pic chip on barcrest machines. So that could be your problem. It should be a small removable ic chip 3pin or 4 on program card . That would be the only security add on. As regards to the coin mech all software will work regardless of what one you have cashflow cf9524,sr5i or sr5e. the encryption is just an optional feature and not mandatory.
I know when i upgraded bellfruits from 35 to 70 jackpots as well as prom updates and decals there was a security chip update on program card.

I think this could be my problem actually. My game software is Red Hot X sit down version... In a nutshell what I am trying to do so I can actually play the machine is to change the software to a version that houses its own top reels (ie Red Hot Monopoly or Red Hot X, these are both 50p £35) as my unit is only playable on test mode, in normal mode it obviously can't establish a connection to the master unit with the big reels and idles in a FAIL state, unless I put it into test.. Unfortunately I'm finding it extremely difficult to achieve this....
Do you work in the industry?
Is it possible to buy some top reels, is it worth calling Mazooma?
Thanks
J
To add, I don't have a security chip fitted to my game board.

Yep im a mobile service tech in london ... about 10 years experience... Could you post a picture of your machine and top box. You could phone mazooma technical they might be able to help. Without being there to have a look its difficult to diagnose the problem.
Is it a 3 player sitdown
Is it like golden game 3 player.. I can only rembember the single casino style cabnet version.

Yeah will post a piccy later. My main problem arises from the fact that I just don't have the master unit that houses the big game reels. There are two connectors at the rear of the machine that link each machine up to this master unit.

Hello,
Just checked with collegues at work. Error 41 is prize/stake error. If im thinking right if no top box is connected to the machine it should default the feature to the actual reel on the awp.
But you should check your prize stake key for the error 41.
Ant.
P.s as for getting a top box just keep your eyes on ebay for one
