HI GUYS IM ONTO A IDEA OF MAKING A FRUIT MACHINE USB CONTROLLER TO GIVE A BIT MORE OF A AUTHENTIC FEEL TO PLAYING THESE EMUS,PLUS NOT ALL OF US CAN FIT A REAL FRUIT MACHINE INTO OUR PADS SO JUST GIVING A BIT OF ALTERNATIVE FOR THE SMALLER HOUSE OR FLAT,SO ME BEING A ELECTRONICS BOD IVE DECIDED TO OFFER THIS PROJECT UP TO WHOEVER WANTS TO HELP ME, ETHER SUPPLYING ME WITH SOME WIRED FRUIT MACHINE BUTTONS ,TO DESIGNING HOW THE CONTROLLER SHOULD LOOK.

I KNOW THIS SOUNDS A FAR FETCHED IDEA BUT BY JOVE OL CHAPS IT MIGHT JUST WORK LOL

FEATURES THIS CONTROLLER WILL HAVE

A CASH BOX WITH A WORKING COIN ACCEPTOR THAT TAKES ALL KINDS OF CHANGE FROM 5P-2 POUND COINS. ACTS MORE LIKE A LITTLE MONEY BOX BUT GIVES A LITTLE EXCITEMENT AS IF YOUR PUTTING MONEY IN FOR CREDITS ,NB THIS WILL ACTUALLY CLOCK UP CREDITS WHEN YOU PUT COINS IN.

AND ALL THE OTHER BUTTONS CANCEL-COLLECT,START,NUDGE/HI-LO KEYS ,FEATURE AND EXCHANGE KEYS

IM IN THE MIDDLE OF DRAWING A CRUDE WIRING DIAGRAM (I AINT NO GRAPHICS ARTIST SO DONT LAUGH WHEN I PUT IT UP)

INFACT I REALIZE HOW POO I AM AT DRAWING ITS ACTUALLY QUITE POOR :p

I WILL PUT DIAGRAM UP WHEN FINISHED

PLZ GUYS LEAVE ANY FEED BACK OR IDEAS, AND PLEASE GO EASY ON ME JUST TRYING TO BRING SOME IDEAS TO THE FRUITY COMMUNITY

PEACE FELLOW FRUITEERS

I guess it's a pretty good idea.

There's some customisable USB keyboard controls you can get - which I guess is
going to be the way you'll get the input back into the software? I've worked
with those in some radio studio automation systems before.

Don't forget on a standard USB port, you can only pull 500mA at +5V - which is
pretty damn pants. So you're going to need to provision an external PSU - you
will want a +24V feed and a +12V feed as a minimum, 12V for the lamps, 24V for
the CoinMech.

You could develop this even further - get involved with the developers of MFME
or whichever emu you favour, and ask them to provide some form of controller
output - say, over serial, then you could actually have hold lights that flash,
hell, you could even quite crudely get it to pay out if you won!!

I think it has potential, but cost, size etc. are going to be an issue... your
standard coin-mech is about 8-10inches tall! So it'd end up being a pretty big
box.

Good luck though - I'm happy to input where I can :)

Or you could buy one off the shelf from somewhere. One of the board manu's also does USB based reels and peripherals.

You will need much higher PSU rating than that if you are going to strobe the lamps as in the real game. They use 63v iirc, which when strobed equals out to 12v rms or something similar. You would need to convert the out puts if you wish to run them at 12v.

You will also need to buffer the usb output because, as already has been mentioned, you can only pull a small current from the usb or risk damaging equipment.

ive seen a similar idea on youtube of a guy who programmed his own fruit machine/poker machine and placed it into a custom cabinet. took coins and paid them out too. a key section in the front enabled him to add demo credit or clear a bank too.

would be quite a concept of playing an emulator, but had a real set of reels on my desk top!
(imagine deal or no deal - you could spy on the reel!)

THANKS FOR INPUT GUYS I WAS GOING A BIT OF A SIMPLER ROUTE FOR THIS ONE USING MICRO SWITCHES AND SOLDER THEM TO A OLD USB KEYBOARD AND HOUSE THEM IN SOME KIND OF FRUITY FRONT END HERE IS MY PANTS DRAWING PLZ DONT LAUGH ITS REALLY POO LOL

SORRY ABOUT WHITE BIT AT TOP A FEW PHONE NUMBERS ON THERE DONT WANT YA PHONING ME MISSES BOSS LOL

AS FOR THE COIN MEC WHAT I WAS GOING TO DO IS MAKE A COIN CUT OUT AND SOLDER A MICRO SWITCH VIA WIRES TO NUMBER 0 ON USB KEYBOARD SO WHEN YOU PLACE A COIN IN IT PRESSES THE MICRO SWITCH AS IF YOU WERE PRESSING 0 ON YOUR USB KEYBOARD =COIN DROPS-HITS MICRO SWITCH-CREDIT ON PC CLOCKS AND COIN FALLS INTO CASH TRAY

IT SHOULD BE POSSIBLE COS MICRO SWITCHES ARE CHEAP AND USE VERY LOW VOLTAGE

I CAN STILL USE PROPER SIZE FRUITY BUTTONS BUT RIP OUT THE GUTS AND REPLACE INSIDE WITH MICRO SWITCHES

ONLY PROBLEM IS LIGHTING IM WORKING ON IT

ONCE ITS FINISHED THE ONLY REMAINS OF THE USB KEBOARD WILL BE THE CIRCUIT BOARD AND USB WIRE AND WILL BE PLACED INSIDE OF THE UNIT

ANY SUGGESTIONS PLZ LET ME KNOW

PEACE FELLOW FRUITEERS

There is an i/o interface already done....

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item5637362b39

Should be simple to map coin/switch inputs to keyboard inputs so no need to recode the emu.

Or to do it properly and make your own full blown fruit machine
http://www.aardvark....techdetails.htm

Very easy to program (must be if I can get it to work lol)
Full SDK on the site as well
BTW that bit of kit is what you will find inside most quiz machines and the newer video awp's

And they also have a usb reel controller on the same site

OHH AND PLEASE TURN THE CAPSLOCK OFF - IT GIVE THE IMPRESSION YOU ARE SHOUTING !!!

instead of trying to hack into a usb keyboard you could use an Xbox1 controller with a USB lead soldered onto it
install XBCD for the xbox to pc drivers. http://www.redcl0ud.com/xbcd.html
you can remap the xbox controller buttons & directions with XBCD

or an el'cheapo usb game controller from dealextreme will also work like this http://forum.arcadec...p?topic=84548.0

then use joytokey to remap the XBCD/el'cheapo setup to the keystrokes you need. http://www.electraco...ish Version.htm

once you have it setup to your liking you'll probably want to hide windows and it's boot screen
you can use instantsheller. http://www.gameex.ne...tantsheller.zip
Use at your own risk.

I've just setup a jukebox with the above process, using an xbox1 controller i was able to get 13 buttons to register as keystrokes that i needed.
