May also be better tom letting them know the difference between a Sim and an Emu mate as I think they are on the Sim lines with their question buddy.

Ady,
I browse the forum looking for answers to my own problems or questions and I followed your link - WikiAnswers - What is the difference between a simulator and an emulator? Now I'm confused...how can an emulator be hardware. Surley if I can download it in the form of electronic data it must be software. Feel free to enlighten me.

Its software which is mimmicing the inputs and outputs of the hardware. The game roms think they are in a real machine. however if the emulator isnt quite accurate or doesnt account for specific options or physical properties the game will error as it would in real life.
This happens fairly frequently. To emulate a component accurately may take say 3000 lines of code (for arguement sake). But a 99% accurate emulation may only take 200 lines. So more often than not you use the second method, its easier, and will run faster in a finished emulator. And usually most roms arent that picky, in fact you'd be surprised what you can get away with.

I think I get what you are saying... Cheers

Which emulators have you tried and which versions. I am assuming this is MFME.
It comes in many official and unofficial versions.
1.1
2.0-2.2
3.0-3.2
9.4,9.9,10.1a/10.2 * These 3 are unofficial releases
3.2 tends to be the best for all games except those based on scorpion 4 or MPU 5.
3.x has resizing capabilities for layouts so if you have a low resolution monitor use this where possible.
2.x is best for editing as 3.x is play only, no editor.
Try 3.2 and 2.0 and come back to us if it stops working.
