hi guys

i have a laptop with a cd writer the thing is lately when i try to copy a cd or make a cd from files on my pc data music ect. i get power calibration error can anyone tell me what this means and if i can fix it ?

I think but im not sure but i think that the writer has broken what make is your laptop?

Power calibration means the write side of the cdwriter head has died...No fix...new unit only.... :(

Ive got a Toshiba Satellite A30-514 had no problems with it anyway here is a number you can contact them with 0870 444 8944 it still might be under warranty. Hope this can help you :)

It's possible your writer just doesn't like the media you're using. Try a different brand and see if that helps. I had the same thing when I was using cheap blanks.

well the thing is my cd rom and dvd player work fine its a combo drive

the read heads for dvd and cdrom are usually ok but the write side uses a diffrent colour laser which is more apt to burn out so it tends to read discs but not write.....
