Hello again everyone. I wonder if you'd be kind enough to answer a question I have about my BFM Powerball Machine. It's running on scorpion 5. There's a space in the front glass for an acceptor and there's a loom that is basically hanging right by the hole, as if it's been removed. Actually I'm pretty sure there's been one in it as there's a hole behind where I guess a drop box for the notes resided? Also if I open the bottom compartment there's a wooden guide where some type of box must have sat. I've scoured the forum and read all the information I can find about acceptors but they seem to be machine specific. Of course it is overkill having an acceptor in a machine at home but I wouldn't mind using it as a saving box. It's safer than the banks these days!:biglaugh:

Here's some pictures of the wires and machine that may help. It also has 'bank' 'notes' 'credit' on the alpha display & a transfer button to the right.

Recently I bought a NV7/Stacker/loom in error, but it was a decent price and I can always chuck it back on ebay as I'm sure it's pretty useless as far as this machine is concerned from what I've read elsewhere.

Thanks for having a look,

John

That looks like an NV4 parallel acceptor loom (though I could be wrong). What I think you'll need is an NV4 to NV7 loom convertor, which is a small bit of plastic which will then allow you to fit the stacker box.

There may, or may not, be another lead quite close by the first one, which has just 4 wires on it, and if it does it may be easier to plug that one into the note acceptor instead (it will be a CC-Talk lead).

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will come along shortly, but maybe that will get you started :)

Thanks very much for the reply, I know some of the engineers here get a bit peeved my people asking about notey questions from noobs. I'd also like to thanks everyone for their work on the emulators. It's great to play some of the old ones again for free.

I'm an ex white/brown goods electrician so I do know the difference bethween a zener diode and a capacitor, but obviously won't mess with the machine if it's just not worth the effort.

There is another connector clipped close by but it looks like that one's never been used. It won't fit the acceptor directly. It's female but has a different pin blanked off. There's also a sticker on the coin acceptor stating parallel acceptors only on this machine. The supplied loom has a black 16 pin female connector that fits the notey & the other end has a white 8 pin connector (female) with pin 3 blanked off if that helps. It's also got a small PCB with an IC & a couple of caps. Perhaps I should get hold of a NV4 when one pops up instead?

Thanks again... I'll keep at it.

Oops made a boob. The coin acceptor states serial NOT parallel as I said above. Sorry it's my age

Is the middle ball feature rigged on this? Is it magnetised?

Ha ha! I remember a thread I read on mecca/elsewhere about that. How can the % work properly with a 'random' feature kinda question...

The ball is ceramic and not magnetic at all.

It does have the habit of dropping in the 'mystery' slot as that's in the centre and is most hit, that can usually go to lose straight away. Conveniently...

I need to fix the solenoid on the plunger release as it's sticking. Quite like this machine though to be honest.

Need pic's of those connectors,

Some machines have one loom that has all the connectors on it for a variety of mechs,
others have a loom that runs up to that area, but has a nine way connector wired as below, this in turn would attach to a 'sub' loom with the note acceptor connectors.

1 Black / white
2 White
3 Red
4 Key way (blocked)
5 Black / white
6 --
7 --
8 --
9 Black

Thanks once again. Looks like we're getting somewhere. The colour code you've listed matches one of the connectors (the short one) you can see this below. I've also included a pic of the board with explanations. Looks like I do indeed need an adaptor of sorts. Have a look for us and tell us what you think. Cheers

Bingo!

The 1st pic above - that's the connector you want - it connect's to another 'sub' loom the has the connectors on it for either just one acceptor or 4.

I left out pins 6,7&8 as they are not used on cctalk, I might be able to find you one, (or make one) but I'm off till next Tuesday.

Can make the NV7 work provided it has been set up for cctalk.
but how you mount it? that's for some on else to tell ya - I know someone has done it - FruitBash in the same cab but SC4

BTW that pic1 - I'm assuming it's located on the main door - where the notey would be.
yes?

Christ that was quick! Yeah that connector runs down the left of the machine door, it's just a little short. Mind you, if the NV7 is gonna be used I can un-clip it from the guides. I did read that other long thread about the bloke who sat his notey on a Dawn French Biography lol. I'm pretty good with DIY so should be able to fix it on place somehow and it did come with an adjustable bracket so that'll help. I have the manual too, so should be able to set the dil switches for cctalk. I'd be very grateful if you could knock up a loom or find one and will happily pay for it no problem. Thanks again

Just wanted to thank Roderz for sorting a loom for me on this. Came this morning and fitted a treat. I got hold of a NV8 too (thought it would fit the machine better than the NV7...and it did) Shame though cos the bezel refuses to light unless in SSP mode (when it flashes sporadically which is wrong) It fires up ok at bootup and the green LED on the acceptor is in 'heartbeat mode' as they say in the manual. Gonna leave it for while as it's a bit close to Xmas to be arsing round with it. Thanks again!

I haven't no. I had a quick scoot in the manuals but couldn't find out how to do it. (granted I've been a bit up the wall today with post office visits etc) The alpha display isn't asking for anything, and the float is still @ 125 when I twist the refill key.

How do I access the setting to input the BNV? I HAVE reset the acceptor to defaults 1.2.3.4.5.6 though.

UPDATE!

Cracked it mate! found test mode on the MPU, changed BNV key, said accepted/stored, rebooted and is fully working. Well made up!
