Have a big (torrent) archive with all included files, couldn't bare downloading one by one from this and other sites. Problem i see will be the rom files they are all in one directory and all zipped up. Is there a known tool that can gather all roms, layouts etc into correct named folders ?

Oh i read bf emulator needs each games files in a seperate folder. Is this the same with mfme and jpemu. If so i'm well stufffed, if no tool to gather rooms to their correct folders. Will take me weeks, months more like years to sort.

I have the correct structure for mfme install wizard. Such as for the emulators, the layouts are all there and same for snapshots. Its just the roms that present a problem.

Haven't run any emu incase some setting gets assigned and later causes a problem etc.

Holy tat i just read jpemu need all files unziped wtf. A tool will be needed to do this, whats it called, where is it ?

Yes - Windows Explorer combined with the mouse work really well for this.

I have heard these rumours as well. You need to launch the automated mode on each respective emulators. CTRL + SHIFT + X then hit F6 should assist you there. Be sure to fill out the respsetive check boxes and radio buttons.

Please see previous comments.

That is a good idea - I would suggest you adopt the same issue with your computer and not turn on Windows.

The automated mode as mentioned above will help you.

Thanks Mr House, i will try that. Though the windows explorer and mouse doesn't enthuse me at all. Maybe time to look at batch scripting, to do it for me, anyone got one.

Hi bazpeeb i did search the Help and Advice here, but nothing i found to help for this. The video guides give nothing for complete installing, just install to run a game. Maybe you could link the relavent guides here. :)

What full install?

JPeMu and MFME require no instalation at all, the exe is all there is.
BFeMu will need freeimage.dll located within the same directory but everything comes with it in the download zips.

And how about just downloading the macines you want to play, one at a time, download the next machine whilst playing the first? Its not as if they take a long time.

And what exactly do you want the directory tree structure for?

Bfemu runs zips so you are okay there.

Are the MFME/Jpemu layouts named something like this? 'Supafruits_(Union)_[Dx02_1280_15jp]'

If so they have been named using my datafiles. I think I have one lying around for a 'ready to play' set but really all you need to do is unzip all the roms and all the layouts into one folder (one per emu) and let the game manager do the rest.... really simple.

Rather than the KB the tutorial link does work (just for future info guys)...

As was said before the Live KB just didn't have enough demand.

I did try another setup a few years back, and just need the energy and motivation to do it again. Last time though it was a heck of a mess. Copies of similar files everywhere, this time would like it to be neat and clean. Your right about everthing is included, not much to the emu (install wise). But it was only mfmeiw that gave me some inclination what the layout should be, but not for the roms.

I have in each emulator Layouts and Snapshots. But no folder for Roms, the reason for asking here. Where do the roms go ! Into a Roms directory maybe that is missing from mfmeiw install build structure.

Anyway maybe i should just try this later to see what it can do. Atm i'm browsing the forum, having read, plenty of time before i boot pc with the fruit emus on.

I just told you..... just chuck everything into one folder and let the game manager do the rest. That is unless you want separate folders for each layout. Then you will have to unzip each layout (winrar can put them into folders for you) and then unzip all the roms and put them into the correct folder (the one that matches the layout name) then you gotta hope no one has renamed the roms and they match the entries in the .gam files etc.... good luck.

they are like that, well like this zip and its contents.

Supafruits (Union).zip

Supafruits_(Union)_[C01_v1-0_1024_15jp].dat
Supafruits_(Union)_[C01_v1-0_1024_15jp].gam
Supafruits_(Union)_[Dx01_1280_15jp].dat
Supafruits_(Union)_[Dx01_1280_15jp].gam

Ok to run without install in one mass folder, with emulators and snapshots iin outside folders. But is the best reply so far, and think about it less house keeping when updating, just throw new updates in and go. :D

Are you thinking in future of releasing with correct naming format, and build them into a proper directory structure. Maybe you do this via batch or will be a bitch to do.

Thanks for your release will go away and enjoy all it has to offer. ;)

Thanks for the explantion Ady, i did have have look in tutorials, now seems this install is different from others. Will try as Geddy said unzip each into own folders, rather than unzipping all into one big folder, that will get very messy and unmanageable.

Every month or so I release a datafile which will rename all the released layouts in the 'correct naming format' (well my correct format hehe.) I guess putting them into a directory structure would be a pain and well really is a pain since it is not needed. Just unzip everything into ONE folder and let MFME's game manager do it's job. (The GM will also tell you if you have a rom missing so this will help you either find/alter the rom name or alter the .gam file.)

Personally I would not bother with this install wizard thing as it is really not required.

Yeah looks okay, however open the .gam file with notepad and it will tell you what roms are req.

You now have two choices.

1) Put all you have there in a folder called Supa Fruits (Union) or...

2) Just lob them in one folder called 'MFME Layouts'

Attached are how I have them, first is the BIG folder containing all unzipped roms/layouts - my ready to play folder. The second is my 'datafile' folder where I keep all layouts zipped for the creation of the datafiles.

Attached Files

Attached is a new one just made. Beta mind you so do not delete anything it throws away hehe. It should be okay and will no doubt be the 'final' release version later in the week.

It is for CMPro so you assume correct.

Looks as if all the are named, as you intended them to be. Still think some scripts could make your releases, in sepertae folders.

Another new release coming, great looking forward to it. I just found also all the dats for this release so will run against them, instead of your new one.

btw. you did mention Dx02 is that part of the new release as not present in the latest one, i have as above.

Yes DX02 is in the new release above.... I was just renaming them when I saw your post.

I'm sure there is a simple way CMPro can read from folders instead of zips to make the structure you are thinking about but since IMO there is no need for it I did not bother hehe.
