Right, here's the thing...was in town today, done the weekly shop for me and wor lass, had 17 quid left over, nip into ladbrookes whilst waiting for the bus which costs £1.50 to me house like. Get the 15 quid changed, bus still not there when i lose it all, have the bus fare in me hand, waiting outside for the bus, eventually go back in and stick the bus fair into the same fruity, lose it and end up having to walk 3 miles+ with 4 bags of shopping.

Does this mean i can't resist? Or what.

Whats the very first thing I do when I was supposed to be back in Uni?
Yes, you guessed it - in the Amusement arcade when it opened @ 915am.

Not any more- Emulators cost nothing to play- but means I never go to bed till late!! :p

My local has a sunbed place in it, now opens at 8:15, been there many a morning at that time (the toast is not bad they make) and it usually means I go to work in a foul mood if I get beat.

Ive gone past that phase....i just got to a point where i would get up 9am just so i can get to the arcade first....i just had the urge to go even when i had other stuff to do..but now, i can't be arsed to wake up to go back to a machine that ive told them to save for me.....back then it wasn't so much the money, but more of beating the machine u know....but after a 5 yrs and about god knows how much, u learn........the hard way.

Ive done that b4 where i had enough money left but end up sticking it back into the machine and having to walk home in the rain...never again!! Im just glad ive grown bored of the new ones they have...although i still go everynow and again...but its nowhere near as bad as i used to be like 3Yrs ago. I would just spend it all on fruit machines and end up hating myself for it...then get up a week after and do the same stupid thing!

i think all machines should come with a goverment health warning
i remember working all week then going to the machines and put it all in there and at the end of it feel sick.the best thing to happen to me was to get married and have kids that soon stop me going there to waist me money.
thanks flyer

Yes, family life sure does change things.
I agree about "beating the machine". When you win its great & you feel great all day, but when you lose......................
Sure glad I quit yonks ago. 20p a game- cor that made me think!

Been there done that and i know i have a problem!

For example yesterday i was at my bank and they couldnt get their printer working so they basically said piss off for half an hour and we might be able to get it sorted. So guess wherre i went? Nearest arcade.

Things went quite well went in changed a tenner went hjopping around the partytime machines winning a bit here and there but nothing special but then the machine gave me a hold after nudges for the JP then went straight up onto the board for another 2 JP`s plus another 7 quid which totals £82 off a tenner. This would be the time to leave but NO this little voice in my head telling me more more you will win MORE!

Thankfully i managed to leave about £20 up for a change but more often than not no matter how much i win it all ends up going back in :(

im not addicted anymore to fruit machines but if our todays arcades went back in time to the 80s then there could be a possibility of addiction again.

I don't play in pubs anymore - although dad does so I have to help him with some bits - wouldn't say I were addicted to them I can actually walk past a machine WITHOUT putting money in! (insane, I know!)

Having said that, every time I go see nan & grandad in Bridlington I do take up £100 in £1s, my 6 monthly gambling session. Normally do OK, I've come back with say £160 on some occasions - not amazing but better than a kick in the mouth!

I have done my dough a few times and it's not a nice feeling. This is how it works, because then the next time you make £80 profit you are buzzing even mopre than the time before. You have to loose to make the wins seem even better and so the cycle begins :( The worst is if you know a machine is flying and you are being offered £7 + but you force on for the JP knowing it will come only to run out of money. Nothing makes me feel more sick than that because you know someone else will come and stick 2 or 3 in and it will drop. I try to only play them now if i have got at least £40 to stick in, you don't feel as bad sticking £60 in to get £40 back as you do sticking £20 in and getting nothing even though in reality it's the same.

Ive done the same last month... Put my £3 train fare in, then had to ring someone to get me lift home... had to use excuse about trains not running, i felt well guilty. I had £23, said to myself. SPEND THE £20 ! then lost that and thought its gotta pay soon, so i stuck the last 3 in... guess what... it didnt pay.

I apologise for my awful username and previous posts from 13 years ago. I was a misguided chav.

I think we've all done the gambling thing... i used to get paid on a friday, have my break at 3pm and run over to quicksilver, spend my entire wages then complain to my girlfriend that she had to pay the mortgage and give me some money to go out with on saturday. This doesn't happen now...can't afford to lose the money...have a different (stricter) girlfriend...have a better job so would cry if i lost all my wages!! But whenever i go out and get pissed, probably moreso coz i'm an engineer, i always have a go on the bandits (about £20's worth) and convince myself i'm gonna win! occasionaly drop the big one and amaze my friends, but more often than not...lose! and i'm an engineer

I went out down me local yesterday and jp'd the Monopoly fruity (no jacky repeat AGAIN GRRRR lol) only put about £6 in. But i thought to myself hey hang on i've been playing that every weekend for months putting a tenner a time in so in fact i wasen't 'up' at all.

There's only one winner so no matter how many so called 'experts' there are you always lose more than you win. You are defo an addict if you delude yourself otherwise. That in my eyes is a sure sign. I put about £15 back in the other Hells' Bell's fruity and got nowt. Total profit? £10 minus me drinks lol I'd have to win a £1000 jacky to be up in the long run!! I've started to think more long term now. In the long term i'm no where near making a profit.

To be fair i went into an arcade once and it had a notice saying to always gamble within your means and don't go overboard easier said than done though eh? And it had a phoneline to ring. I know worse addicts than me. A bloke i know put £190 in to get a £200 jacky!! Bad or what!!

Only £190 to get £200. Thats not that bad, I have done a lot more than that to pot a big one. Mind you I have had £250 within the first couple of quid a few times too.

No not that often, 3 times over about 4-5 years. Once on Club Crazy Fruits, once on Club Dracula and once on Club Royal Exchange(more recent version). Crazy Fruits was the second credit for £200.

I'm not under the delusion that i can make a living out of machines, they win 8/10 times. I play them quite often but only for fun, i like to pass the time away on them for a while when i get a bit bored in the pub. Only ever put about a tenner in in any given night (Basically cos my mates are well up on them too so we genenrally go halves if 2 of us fancy a game - so 20 quid ish goes in anyway)

They are there for a source of amusement(ho-hum) and no more for me. I'm quite happy to chuck a tenner in a touchy and your prospects of winning are even less on that (My general knowledge is great, they just don't let me land on the right squares ffs <---cluedo lol)

*Shrug* me = not addicted

Football, Ice Hockey and Horses are another story.....
I'm back! yay!

lol my mates recon they're up on them then ask me to go halves once i spotted one that's playing... cheap bastards, usually me that ends up playing and winning them money. one night i was walkin to a bandit and me mate spotted me, i knew this machine was up to something! dropped my first quid in and nothing... he went halves. on the first spin of the second quid streaked pie factory 2 for 60. i had no idea what was happening, i never streaked a machine b4 (before i discovered emu ;) ) it just kept giving me money!!! which he got half..... BASTARD!!
