One of my mates regularly listens out when putting his first pound coin in a fruit machine to see if the coin "hits the bottom" (makes a satisfying thud as if it lands on wood rather than other coins). If it does "thud" he reckons that there is more chance of the machine paying out big on the features. Is this true?? I've heard others saying similar. What causes the change in noise when the coin goes in exactly??
Also, out of curiosity, are you more likely to get a payout by putting in pound coins rather than say an equivilant anumber of 50p's (e.g. using 2 x £1 coins rather than 4 x 50p's etc). Sorry if these seem like stupid questions but i'm reasonably new to fruities. Cheers for anyone who replies.

Ok,

Wether or not the Coin(s) lands on the wood or other coins dosent matter, The Coins purly go into a box. If it lands on the wood, it just means the owner has emptyed the box! And that is that.

Old machine pay out more when full, i.e. when the tubes are full. But these new ones, you could put £50 - £100 without getting a big prize.

Cheers,

Adam.

The answer is yes and no? Most machines are refilled once a week for this instance lets say on a friday morning. I walk in on a thursday and put a pound in and it drops down the back into the cashbox (the reason it drops down to the cash box is because the hopper is full (£125/£250 in it) so the machine has had 6 days play without paying out big. In theory the should be below its percentage and should pay out. So i play it and take £75 out. Next day the engineer from Leisure Link comes cleans out the cash box and refils the hopper which is £75 short. Now the hopper is full but because it was £75 short the machine is over its percentage and in theory should such some money back from whom ever is plays it next. Does that make sense? Also it doesn't make any difference if you play with 50p's

To make matters worse, some machines 'fake' backing to give the player the feeling the hoppers are full when really they are not. So the only real way you can be sure is to watch someone put lots of money in! Still there are no guarantees, just a better chance.

Hmmm yeah like in Brighton Bingo hall's which I found out the hard way...Greed on the onus of the machine owners springs to mind!!

Us Leisurelink lot are buggers aren't we!!!
There are more and more tricks to convince the player that the machines are full, one of these being to reset the hopper levels so the coins will go straight to the cashbox. Another popular one adopted now by several machine manufacturers is to put a cash full light on the glass. Not very convincing though eh?!

Sounds like it would be - first noticed that behavior on Nitro :)
I wouldn't be surprised if all machines did this one day...
They don't ALWAYs take the first 5 round the back, only when they have a reasonable hopper balance.

LeisureLink? Are you the ones that have supplied 2 knackered machines to pubs in Spalding in the past couple of months, then done a damn bad job of 'repairing' problems with them?

Not that I really mind, just wondering :)

Watching people put money in is misleading too!

I went to my local at uni to play some pool (I'm on the student union team and me and a team-mate went for some practice) When we got there the 3 jackpot symbols were up. Hmmm....not really worth playing then? is it?

Naturally put 25p in to see if the jackpot repeated (Had to be tried at least.) it didn't. I then watched a hell of a lot of people put money in and win nothing. If i hadn't known it had just spat out a jackpot I would have been in there having a go at taking everyone else's money. It took people's money and gave little back. All in all glad I saw the 3 JP symbols...

Moral of the story...you never can tell what a machine is about to do, no matter what people tell you.
I'm back! yay!

If there are any people in this world that will rob you blind and do it with a smile on their face it's bookies.

I would not be suprised if betting shops had machines set on something dumb like a 5% payout, and found a way to make it legal! (Is my loathing of bookies coming out yet?) Betting shop owners are the spawn of the devil (Waiting for a betting shop owner to be a regular on this forum...)

Even when you win it's hardly worth it, they kick you in the teeth with crap odds...bah....still...won £20 yesterday!

But then there's today.....3.30 at Lingfield...hmm...... :?

The biggest money spinners for bookies nowadays is these casino machines they have. My god have I seen a lot of money get blown on Roulette.
Let's smash Partytime.

Kid, just get away from fruit machines.
Don't start at all.
As your "RESENABLY NEW" you could still stop.

You will shoot yourself in the foot if you carry on.

Just a bit of advise from someone without a penny to his name.

Video Poker is a bitch too, the one i've played is at ladbrokes.com.

Every hand is won with something huge, i'm sat with 3 aces and think i'm the man so i put plenty in everybody folds but one - he shows royal flush, i'm cleaned out - he's had is second royal flush and 5 minutes (Odds please?) and anger results.

The "Random" nature of casino games is very questionable. How many times have you walked in a casino and the dealer has had Blackjack first hand everytime to you go to the table....hmm.

Bottom line = Avoid any game Bookies come up with!
I'm back! yay!

If you want a REALLY good laugh, go to the national lottery site, and try playing online scratchcard games for free...theres one there which I believe is called Money Spinner, which is a cheesy Wheel of Fortune rip off. After playing for free I fail to see how ANYONE would risk their hard earned cash on such shite.

Having said that, regulated gambling sites such as William Hill will have been coded fairly (about as fairly as a fruit machine :D lol), and a bloke recently won $137,000,000 on an online casino [albeit in America] from what I remember.

You can play all the games at Ladbrokes for free (That's my gamble site of choice...only for sport mind you...)

You start with £500 in the coffers and can just cut loose. It's very very very easy to win thousands, I don't know whether thats because

a)You can make big stakes because it aint your money and you don't care
b)The free versions are purposely easier to get you to play real (Cynical?)
c)They ARE actually fair (Naaaaaah!)

Scratch card games online, being a programmer I find it hard to believe people would pay to play them as it could give you anything it wants to - with very little effort on the production side of things. Complete swindle? In my opinion, yes.

How? I go there every day, and there's no way of playing these for free - that is, if you're talking about the red Cash Quest (Cyberview) machines; I've not seen any other type in a Laddy's...

What kind of 'random number' is issued from the server to the terminal anyway - the declaration doesn't specify that the random number received is between 0 and 36 inclusive for the roulette, it could use another kind of random number to decide if, and how much, you win - discuss...

Personally, I don't think the server has any business knowing what your bet is like until it has committed the random number, but will we ever find out if that is the case?
Winning is not a crime...
