I have been using it myself for about 2 years.
Have had no problems at all with it and you get regular updates and virus definitions by download at no cost. All in all I would recomend it to anyone.
It also gives you plenty of options including email scanner etc etc

Online scanners are ok, just to check your current virus checker is detecting them ok, but thats about it. Its not real time, so of no use at all.

Grisoft av is a waste of time... i locks you from uninstalling it cleanly without leaving adware on the machine..

Also to do a full uninstall you have to boot into dos as the software doesnt stop the service running...

I supose this is why its freeware...

Good old norton for me.. :op

Me and my NAV2004 PRO :D

Maybe not the most legit copy in the world, but seeing as how it is the anti-virus companies that release the virii in the first place I think it's worth screwing em.

When MyDoom came out, all over the papers there were adverts for like McAfee Home version for £40....its quite obvious that the anti-virus companies release these virii themselves - or at least don;t do enough to stop them - and the same can be said to Microsoft.

I dare anyone to prove me incorrect :D

For over two years I use Antivir. http://www.free-av.com/
It works fine and the virus definitions are updated almost every day.

I am very pleased with it.

AVG is pretty good I have to admit. I currently use Norton 2003 but can't argue with AVG for free! I wouldn't put anyone off using it.

Yeah I see your point, it does slow things down some especially at start up and when it's updating itself (Annoying when you don't remember that it does that and just wondering why the hell your pc is being so slow!) and I was quite happy to stick with AVG but was offered Norton Firewall which I found much better than Zone Alarm which is what I was using.

I decided to install Norton Anti-virus to go with it. I'm never one to turn down free stuff. (Though I suppose AVG and ZA are free...but that's besides the point)
