o dear.....
never mind not to worry.....yet
i have a "borrowed" version of xp called "xp black" or "unnatended"..
it is an american version of xp pro made for the universities out there so they can multi install on their systems...(quite cool, it turns xp into a vista style computer..and has about 40 extra ";)FREE" programs like tune up iso, burners etc etc (even has photoshop cs3 FULL
ANYWAY..AS REGARDS YOUR PROB...
ive had microsoft attack me several times with wga..but they have left me alone for the past 2 years..but last month they hit everyone with "checks"
and i got stuffed...i couldnt get rid ,even with special gens and crax..this went on for a few days..and suddenly my comp started slowing..dlls were going missing ect ect
obviosly mr gates was slowly incapacitating me..oh dear
SOLUITION IF THIS HAPPENS....RE-INSTALL WITH NO INTERNET CONNECTED...TURN OFF AOUTOMATIC UPDATES,DONT USE WINDOWS FIREWALL...and keep an eye on your little bsdge in the tskbar/bottom right
just make sure it stays RED...pain in the arse but hey..they got ya key now..so unless you get a DECENT..keygen that currently and actually works...youll be limping with yer current version.....
OR buy again from new...(i must be joking)
(please mr gates..stop crippling us with yer wga..you earn shitloads as it is,especially off of vista.....let it go mr gates...LET IT GO....)
(GREEDY YANK)

Let me explain a 'keychanger' as I use it.
Its totally legal, in fact MS has a KB on changing the key...but you need a masters to understand it!
My copy of XP snapped, I have a legal key on my PC....of course using a pre-used disc (still living) won't work..........so I use the disc already activated just for an install--then use a Keychanger to alter the key to the One I paid for.......all I haven't done is paid for a replacement Disc.
Therefore, I can't understand why 'cracked' versions are used.........theres ton's of people who chuck PC's away that arn't worth a toss but...... if it had XP ask for the Key and use that and any disc to tally up with it.

If you're still stuck nails, PM me,. I have a step by step guide (about 6 lines on a text doc) that'll resolve the whole problem. I've fixed this on 5 PC's with borrowed windows, it's easy and doesn't need a reinstall just some registry editing then entering a new code.

Ady, those special DVD's I sent you a while back have iso's of every flavour of XP (The 9 in one boot dvd), and the OEM versions will work with any OEM type key (Dell, HP, Compaq, etc) without any issues to do with WGA.
The only time when you poss will run into issues with wga, is when you use retail versions, as they are often the first to get hacked.
Nails, there my poss be a workround of sorts with this, using Mublinder, which will hopfuly reset this message, and also remove it.
Give the following a try and see if it helps you (Help guide here, see attached for actual file which needs to be put into a folder in the root of drive c): Official muBlinder Page - P2Plife Forums

Ahh, relised what you mean now.
Ran into a simalar issue like this after changing some key parts on my machines, and had a 3 day window to re-activate, but it would refuse to do so.
Same trick is used with this to force a install key change: Change the Windows XP Key - How To Change the Windows XP Product Key Code - Change XP CD Key

ETH0 are normaly pretty much on the ball with WGA issues.
Glad it's all sorted bud, but I would still keep mublinder handy incase you run into this issue again.

Not to be too picky, but technically this is still an illegal license if (as is most likely) the license was OEM. OEM licenses live and die with the PC they were purchased with, and are not transferable. Having said that, there is no way (in XP anyway) that MS could tell you had done this...

My OEM disc was bought for me to create a new self build, so was on the legal side.
Now the 'live and die' bit, I seriously wasn't aware of that....but yes your last comment says it all.
Lets be honest though, if a licence was purchased it should remain live as long as it is required as long as its a single use.............yet another MS money making scheme hu Magz!
