... worth a look? Is it even Mablethorpe?

I'm getting bored and fancy a day out.

Has anyone ever been? I'm tempted to go along with a camera, have a chat with the owner, grab plenty of nice pictures, perhaps do a write up / interview? To make it fair I'd ensure the parents and I lost a reasonable amount of money on the day :D

Obviously I'd contact him beforehand if I did that.

Speaking of which, what is the arcade called so I know who to get in touch with? :D

Really?

What's there instead, anything worth a trip out?

My local has a load of token jp's i.e the 2 popeyes, crystal maze, squids in plus a load more plus the older cash jp's ( £3-£4 ) Classic 2p plays. But the seafront its self is not all that plus the geeza only puts the low cash & token jp's on at the weekends. There are only 4 arcades but the 1 with all the classics is all good, anyway its Canvey Essex. ;)

My mam and stepdad live in a village between Chapel-St-Leonards and Mablethorpe, and two to three times a year I used to always have a ride to Mabel and have a go in that arcade itself. Haven't been for the last couple of years so it will be extremely sad if his son has got rid of all the classic oldies - it was like walking into a dream when I used to go there.

Still, progress I suppose - oh why does everything have to change?

Never mind, it was nice while it lasted there. :(

Their Test Pilot has been safe & sound in my front room for well over a year now! :D It was in a right state when I got it but two weeks of hard work brought it back to it's former glory!

Well, we went along to Mablethorpe today, not for any particular reason, just got bored.

Long story short, that arcade wasn't open, it had blue shutters across it. Was about 2pm, went for a reasonable carvery (nothing special, but pricewise it was good, Carvery £4.49 I think and £1.75 for a pint of Tetley smooth)

Went to Skeggy after.

Unless it turns out there is a specific reason for the arcade being closed, I guess I'd award PJ's the 'Simply couldn't be arsed' trophy.

Or was the Weather a bad as it was here in Brighton!......went to the Seafront (aladin's) today as I had a day off...same Blue shutters , I suppose they saved them being wrecked by the big waves.

I can't see a point in opening if the electric was costing more than the takings.

Suppose I knew Aladin's wasn't going to be open (even in the 2nd week of May) looking at the weather......but I still hoped.............but then I went home and had a beer too :)

Nah, it was The Beck we went to for the carvery. It was an OK meal. I'm normally pretty critical, but for the price (£6.25 for myself including a pint of beer) it was fine - nice meat, veg not 100% but certainly edible.

We were originally planning on going tomorrow but a meeting I had scheduled for Tuesday got shifted to Saturday instead which has cocked up any plans I had :p

Was fine, if slightly cloudy when we sat down in the pub. Soon as we stood up to leave the heavens opened - only lasted a few minutes though.

I see what you mean about the electric costing more than the takings - but it's also pretty unprofessional. I mean when I used to run the Currys on the high-street, some days we'd take very little cash - but we had to open incase customers wanted to browse, wanted a chat, had any questions, e.t.c.

Still, now I know, I'll plan a trip up there again soon.
