hi all
how much do enjoy playing emulated machines
sinve i discovered this site this month I have hardly been able to stop playing becuase when I am in pubs or any other place where I see machines I never miss the chance to play one now through the magic of the net I can play at home
and another question
my obsession with fruit and arcade machines or puggy machines as we Scottish like to call them goes back to about 1989 or 1990 when I was a baby I would get an adult to play for me as I would here the bleeping and the music and get excited
but as the 90s went on it just grew from there
so what year did you start playing them

Blimey I think I was about 14...3 years ago............ok 29 years ago!

The Old JPM 'Double-Up' 50p cash £1 Token JP...........

Couldn't believe how Jackpots grew so fast....£1-2-3-4-4.80-6....the days!

How the hell did they ever think of creating a £4.80 JP lol

Thats my Buzz.....playing what isn't possible anywhere else...

it would be around early 80's i started paying them, the first machine i played
was nudges unlited 10 play £2 jackpot i think it was, then bellfruits super nudge gambler jeez i loved playing that bugger..
must say nothing to beat the old bandits from the 80's project coins ones especially, hit the 6, crazy pays ,sevens and melons, and jpm machines, rollercoaster and indy jones. others spring to mind were 777 heaven, jackpot 7's, 7's above and andy capp. all cracking fun games where £30 lasted all day. happy days. glad to say that they all have been emulated and still fun to play on the emus.

My dad and my nan always went to arcades and I followed. I think the first games I can remember that I played was Golden Steppa and Silver Ghost and the basic nudgers. That was roughly 27yrs ago. heh

I enjoy emulation as it allows me to play what is currently, and never will be, available to me again in the real world.

As to what burst my cherry so to speak, here is a copy of a post I made at the Mecca.

Apart from old fashioned one armed bandits at seaside resorts on holidays in the 70's my first memory if of going into an arcade with my mate in the early 80's (1981?). We were in there 3 hours him playing on fruities, me tagging along. All afternoon my attention kept being drawn to a Nudges Unlimited with 3 grapes on the winline.

My 10 pence finally went in - blip blip blip auto-hold. The £1.50 in tokens came out and that 1 afternoon cost me about £10000 through addiction to fruities over the next 6 / 7 years! Bugger

I have been playing fruity's around 27 years:oh: from the early tic-tac-toe £1 jackpots along with Moon Bug and the likes.Loved the Silver ghosts on 2p play, good for doubling your 10p to 20p at times. The 2p/£2 jackpot era was great and actually had fun playing the likes of Aladdins Cave,Ratrace,Win-A-Gain,etc.Proceeded onto the 10p play machines funded by a milk round on a Saturday morning, and liked the all cash £2 jackpots and played many a 5p double up.
As the jackpots increased I found myself drawn to the 20p/£4.80 token era. This is my special era and nothing will ever surpass it and the likes of the fabled HT6 and the Ace games is what emulation is all about imo.I enjoy the newer layouts due to better sound samples and more to look at but can't beat the oldies.
I would gladly swap all the new stuff for the oldies and when my time machine is working I will grab every rom from every 80's machine:bigeyes20:
Until then,we can only hope!

Since the early 1970s me - the old pull handle ones (Tic-Tac-Toe etc) and the ones where there was a wobbly flip handle on the front panel of the machine.

The jackpots when I first started playing were 1p play/10p jackpot! Then in the mid 1970s the 5p play/£1 token machines started to come out, but this was way beyond my means, seeing as though 10p per week was my pocket money!

Can you imagine some of the young members on here now, the look on their faces if they were given 10p pocket money per week? ;)
