Just tidying all my rubbish up on my hard drive and I found the file that I've attached that I figured maybe of interest to some of the new people to FME to give a snapshot of what the scene was like 8 years ago.

This document was one that I was creating that barely got off the ground when I used to own and run Fruit Forums before I gave it away to Alex.

This is a great view of the fantastic achievment that was Fruit.Exe before politics and shit ruined everything.

Enjoy this small, but enlightening document that I have just posted here before I deleted it.

So where are we now? There's a £25 jackpot just been introduced and a potential stake of 50p per
game (although I refuse to believe that there's an operator in the land who would even consider charging
someone 50p to watch 3 reels spin for a second). People do not want higher jackpots (they certainly don't
want higher stakes); they want value for money and entertainment along with the chance to win a few
quid. Of course, the one group of people who will play whatever the stake, jackpot or %age are the
addicts, from whom fruit machines, now more than ever, make the vast majority of their money from.

Wow, looking at it like that (from back then).. its makes so much sense.. and is infact completely Laughable 50p stakes for 1 second spins....

Thanks Mr House, its a really good read :bigeyes16:

What is the machine on the bottom of page 4? The £1000 casino one, ???? grand ???? This is the machine I have been looking for but didnt know if it was emulated or not. I thought it was a barcrest machine but could not remember the name. I will look again now i seen part of the name but if anyone else knows what its called could you please let me know.

Some very intresting points in this document and it is crazy how much stuff has moved on. I remember when machines went to £25 jp and was saying to my m8 no way I would play one but 3 months after them going into arcades I ended up playing them  was the begining of the end of the fruit machine industry in my eyes. No fun to play machines any more and to lose a full weeks wages in just a couple of hours or less was just boring. But once you had the bug you was done for.

Honestly don't know. The name looks like 'Casino GRAND' to me but could be wrong. Graphically it looks more like a rebuild, so could be by anyone.

Yes you can.

One thing I would suggest is respect the name changes that people have done and refer to them by their current FME known names. EG, me = Mr House. Trouty = Geddy and so on.

Interesting reading, sure is a lot of people responsible for getting FME to this point, a lot of people to thank.

Also it may be a good idea for members to troll through old posts on FF as I did when I first joined....Lots to read..... All very interesting.

Funny to see Pook's comment (just to pick 1 at random), saying that he tried a DX and failed.....How things have changed on that front.

Nice to see that most of those are still posting on one forum and another, even Wizard, which is very rare I know.

Just a feeling I have from reading that the early days must have been brilliant, loads of roms, loads of artwork, and the majority just concentrating on furthering FME (wish I found out about it in 2002).

Just hope that this is not the end of FME, because surely in a year or 2, everything possible will be emulated and DX'ed.

With Wizard unlikely to return (hope I'm very very wrong there), this scene needs someone to save it (looking ahead long term) and create an emulator that is easy to use, something similar to MFME.

Very interesting read indeed and soo right.
Yet if anything, things are now worse than ever in the arcade industry as the 50p spin is now £1 or even £2 a spin.!!
A £1 a spin for £500jackpot games is steep enough but for £70jackpots!!! :err:
As a reformed addict who certainly kept many an arcade in profit(late 80s/early 90s).I have benefited so much from the various emus and the many wonderfull emulations we have.
I have a control now over slots I once never had.
Slot machines dominated a chapter in my life that will always haunt a part of me.
I play and enjoy all forms of gambling but only play for fun now,

Jay
