No, they were well worth the point to be honest CC, could even have won it.

I must admit to being one of (probably) many people who thought they would go straight back down, but I hope I'm wrong because they can play some really entertaining football and, at the moment, deserve to be in the top flight.

Thats just it though. According to the football world, they don't deserve to be in the premiership. I'm not a football fan myself. Rugby League for me I'm affraid, but when I saw they were winning the odd match, quite unexpectedly according to the media, I found myself browsing the odd message board, like the BBC's 606 pages, just to see what peoples reactions were.

Hull did indeed get off to a good start and I think they may well survive for at least another year, but according to the football world, 'Hull City + Premiership' will not be accepted.

Of course Hull City have never been there before. This is where this type of attitude comes from. If by some reason they last a couple of years, maybe one day they will be accepted. Hull isn't a small place. It's big enough to support a Premiership side. But I'd hazzard a guess that the reason it has taken so long for their top flight debut is simply because we have 2 professional rugby league sides. Both presently in rugby leagues top division Superleague. Admittedly, they will never pull in the crowds of a football team in the top flight, but theres 25,000 fans watching those two teams between them. Add the 23,000 that watch City at the KC, theres approaching 50,000 people ready and willing to watch top flight sport here in Hull. Most of those have allegiances to their chosen team with very few watching both an RL match and a footy match in the same week. And certainly there are no fans watching both RL matches each and every week. Hull KR and Hull FC have a similar fan situation as Man U and Man City.
