Is this a serious question? If it is, you need to either stop gambling, or accept losses when they occur. Putting £50 in a machine isn't going to guarantee getting more than this back.

yea, with a potential £140 to be won it would need £180 put in (if the payout was 78%). £70 megastreak = £90, normal £35 jackpot = £45.
this is in an ideal situation though.

I mistakenly assumed that the 50p play option on £35 jackpot machines meant that you would get on the board more often. What a fool I was - just as shite as normal 30p play....except you lose your money much quicker!

I saw another thread saying that the old machines should be brought back with £15 jackpots. I completely agree. You got on the board much more and the machines were much better than today. I'd love to see classics like Rollercoaster, Crystal Maze, Casino Crazy, Jackpoteers, etc, make a return!

So do most of the machines of today only really save up for mega streaks and therefore pay out hardly anything inbetween or because times are hard for the manufacturers, they have decided to take more money?!

I think the popularity of fruit machines has dwindled a lot in recent years, so by making machines that never pay out, it will drive everyone away. Here's hoping anyway!

In the heyday of the early 90s I used to spend my Saturdays in Nobles. £50 would last most of the day. Fair do's, profits were not as big, but the days out were enjoyable then. For the £50 to be spunked away in just a few mins is not fun in my book.

i agree with deano. the days when £50 used to last all day and you still had a bit of money left. not 50 quid in 10 minutes

Agreed Deano. At least yer wages back then lasted a few days...Now you could shoot £100 up the spout in ten minutes.

Cost of playing a fruit machine in 1984....10p, £4JP. 40 shots for yer money

Cost of playing a fruit machine in 2009...£1. £75JP. 75 shots for yer money.

Hey!!! That must mean the rate of inflation has gone up by almost 54% (is that right?) in almost 25 years. A loaf of bread should now cost £1.75. A tin of beans almost £1.50 and a state of the art PC would cost almost £8,000 (1984 prices). :)

I was in Nobles, Southport a couple of months back, on their low jackpot Bar X selection. Didn't realise it was a token jackpot until it paid out!

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I must have spent about 30 minutes from a starting stake of £2 on the £4/10p Bar X machines. Ended up with about £18 in tokens, which I eventually turned into about £11 in coins, on top of the £6 or so from £1 XXX wins along the way.

A very entertaining little session, minimal risk, cups of coffee, and all the rest. Actually the most fun I've had (without the stress of higher stakes and £2 blocked-board hi-techs) for a LONG time.

I think it's too late for many punters to go back to lower stakes, but it was a funny little afternoon, and in insight into how it probably used to be - an afternoon on the slots, a laugh with the locals, and I'd have been quite happy to lose for the entertainment gained.

Had some bad days in Nobles as well. They used to have these Exibars, basically a bar x with a Nobles program in it.On 20p/£6 play these could strip you of £100 without a token jp at times.Other times you would be overwhelmed with tokens for very little outlay.
Still pop in to the Sheffield branch where they still have a large section of token machines. They still have original Big7 and Red Bar 20p/£6 before the double nudge versions.Still fun to play after all this time:)

aww i lost £50 on bucks bunny the other night. im not best happy!
first £10 gave me a few boards, then was going through the second £10, and won over £20. i was about £7 up at this stage. i eventually lost £50, and someone else was playing it when i had a break. was not best pleased. just as it was showing slight signs of paying id get kicked off :(
was set on 80% payout too. what a joke.
just realised that i had the red bb streak left, and landed on both the gold and silver BB thing. i wasnt really paying much attention, but im guessing its just a streak/super streak?
.. random post i know, but this is an evil machine too :p

Now your talking, go back a little further to the £5 jp's and you could win £50 for about £4-5. if you didnt win after £10-15 it would usually give you that "sympathy roll in" with the jp just rolling on a normal spin and then repeat.

Fruities back then had feelings, nowadays they have dwarfs sat in them laughing at you in an evil way as you think to yourself "can i run to the cashpoint and lift another 50 to try win back the 50 i just put in without someone else getting on the machine first" sad but true....

I dont touch them now and thank god for that, it would of cost me the other half and the kids if i was still playing them !

One thing i cant stand and think is really evil is the fact that when youve been playing a machine for a while and then starts hitting the bottom you think surely the jackpot is coming but it never comes.... you would think if its full its got to pay, but doesnt seem to be the case all the time though. For example DOND!!!

In the olden glory days of fruit machines a full machine ie one that is backing was a surefire way of making some money. Not the case today from the modern world of robbing bandits. :-(
