Doesn't Network Address Translation (NAT) come enabled as standard on all ADSL wireless routers?
If it don't Danny, there will be a page in the router configuration where it can be enabled/disabled. My Netgear shows this on the first 'Basic Settings' page but I don't know much about D-Link stuff. But if it was easy to find on my Netgear, it shouldn't be all that hard to find on your router.

As Zoltar put's it, NAT should be enabled as default on most routers, if not, first thing would be to enable this.
If you are still having connection issues, then you may need to set up for the xbox only, the IP for it in the DMZ settings.
Not an ideal way to get things working, but it should get it working.
