Guys,
Just picked up a machine, however it's reels are a little discoloured ( middle reel is slightly yellower than the outer two).
Anyone tried cleaning their reels, and if so what did you clean with and what kind of success did you have?? Didnt want to use something too abraisive and remove the figures!
Thanks
Paul

any household polish would be fine but if the reels are discoloured from lighting/heat then am afraid there's not alot u can do

I use a soft cloth and glass cleaner but make sure you do it
GENTLY as reel bands get brittle with age and the heat from
the bulbs, they will crack if you press to hard
Same goes if you need to rebulb, lots of older machines formica
and holders also get brittle with age so handle with care:)

I just dunk mine in some soapy water and wipe with a sponge. I've never ruined anything like that but no doubt there's some reason I shouldn't use it.

Bleach is good for removing nicotine and grime off the outside of machine glass though - that or washing powder.

true
we now use a product called(don't laugh) beaver cleaning solution.
its the best we have ever had as long as its well diluted.
as altharic says if its yellowing from the reel bulbs you wont be able to get rid of it.

ps what machine is it?
