I am finally going to take the plunge and buy or start an AGC (something I have longed to do but never had the chance until now!) in the midlands area - however, only really being a player of B3 and AWP Hi-tech I need some help on what other machines I should put in from a wider perspective.

Of course the 4 x B3 including big popular names seen everywhere such as Barcrest Triple 7 (Rainbow Riches/Monty Python etc.) /Astra Party Slots/CMS Chameleon is fine but what about the Cat C and Cat D and any other machines?

If you could get say 20 machines in (excluding the Cat B3 £500 jackpots), what would you go for and what mix?

I was thinking about 5 x £35 jackpots, 5 x £25 and then a selection of Cat D/classics including what seem to be popular the Electrocoin OXO (never got them myself but what do you think?)??

What about the multi-player machines, I always find unless you are in massive seaside arcades on a busy day they are dead?? Are they no good unless others are on them and lots of people what do you think?

Any help/opinions appreciated on the entire topic of adults only AGC with fruties/slots and assume no family stuff/video games/pushers etc. :-) particularly Nails if you get chance to reply having "been there and got the t-shirt" ;) thanks in advance!

Please PM me if you prefer no problems.

It all depends on the punter m8, what works in one arcade may not work in
another, its trial and error.

Also IMHO now is not a good time to open an amusement arcade(unless
you can afford to run at a loss for a while)as things are gona get a whole
lot worse before they get better

Good luck to you if you do go ahead:)

ps: be carefull about asking customers what machines they would like to see as
more often then not they will recomend machines they have a tell on;)

Agreed, it's a terrible time to be opening an arcade!

Good luck though, you will definitely need it - and plenty of money too.

It’s not an arcade as such but an Adult Gaming Centre for strictly over 18's with slots/fruit machines and the big £500 jackpots. I have already done a lot of wor/planning on the location with respect to heavy footfall in a town "gagging for it" so to speak
I have also already done a lot of work on the business/P&L and am happy it will be OK on that front chaps - but thanks for the warning in tricky times of "credit crunching". On the flip side to bad times its also easier in many ways to get great locations and give away leases as they are sticking (hopefully a bit of method in what may seem madness).

Noting the SLOTS requirement, any particular machines or is it trial and error like you say? I don’t really want to make the mistake of just filling it with 4 x B£ and then a few BARCREST/BFG cab's; I want to appeal to a wide audience, hence my question asking for help/your views.

also make sure its near a taxi / cafe as it will attract cab drivers ... as here in liverpool .. they spend a few bob in the machines on the break

I would have thought it was a good time.. I'm not sure of the figures or anything but I was always led to believe that alcohol and gambling did extremely well in depressions - due to people becoming more desperate.. You may lose the casual footfall, but gain more from the hardcore (although this would not be true of seasonal locations that depend on tourists)..... Unless I'm wrong, which I often am.

More of an issue in my opinion would be the amount of people who seem to be opening arcades lately - There seem to be more and more places to get your fill of machines.. Particularly service stations/ bingo halls and bookies taking what was traditionally AGC business??

Good luck with the venture though.
