Serious question believe it or not!

I have my machines but no keys yet, I want to get on working with them so its a simple "does anyone know how to"?

Not sure whether to drill them out or put a screwdriver through the middle etc.....I have spare locks and, of course I want to cause as little damage as possible.

If I do drill it would I need a Bit big enough to trash the hexagonal bar in the middle?

As said, it may sound a pathetic question.....but if you have needed to do it in the past yourself i'd like to know the safest way.

Thanks

Ady

Never done it myself but a guess would be to drill in the middle to destroy the screw holding the lock lever. It should just then fall off the end of the barrel.

But.. I have never done it before so wait for someone elses input lol.

I did three earlier on today.

I just use a good quality twist bit, about 8-10mm. Punch the centre and drill.
Be careful of hot flying tumblers and swarf, and be aware that the drill will snatch on harder bits of metal (and make my thumb red! :bigeyes30:).
Drill until the centre pin falls out the back.

If you go too far you can drill straight through and into a part of the machine inside though so be careful.

No worries.

I have seen some horrendous jobs where people have used an angle grinder; drilled all round the outside of the lock in the chipboard; and mangled stuff with screwdrivers.
Drilling the centre out the lock is the least destructive way by far.

By the way if it is a flat key lock then try a 92250 L&F first, loads of these were fitted to fruit and arcade machines, even on cash doors sometimes!

Take it slow I find they wake up if you drill too hard......you mean a fruit machine?

ooops

way I done one was to 45 angle the f***er down to the right! but use a slow speed but fast enough to cut the lock usually you can you hear a clink like Brightons chance of promotion.

A screwdriver between top of door and machine, a couple of wacks and the cam will ping off or bend enough to force open... Magay and global machines can be opened without a key..... Best i dont post tho, sorry GC and Stu;)

Elegance cabs? They've got big heavy bottom doors though haven't they? I would have thought they'd be harder to open.

the bfm CCF is a smiley cab m8, but as FYTE suggested using a scredriver it is not highly recommended as it would screw the cabinet up and reduce the selling price

a "panel puller"...from a car panel beating shop will do it deffo..

its like a "T" bar with a screw attachment on the end..and a HEAVY sliding weight that slides along the bar

how to;...screw the screw allthe way in to lock, pull on the t/handle.weight shoots along shaft.....

and wallah..the whole lock drum is extracted...

of course ady this is....ABSOLUTELY USELESS INFO TO YOU...cos u probs aint got a panel puller anyway

(at least its an interesting read:biglaugh:)
if i had HALF of the HALF a brain ive got...i,d be EXTREMELY DANGEROUS...

Problem is, you have to concider the locking nut that's on the back of the barrel, and that in turn, would also pull through the mounting hole most likley, and thus damage the mounting.

10mm drill is the only reliable way to go IMO.
