Hi all,

Yesterday before going to pick my wife and new child up from hospital i did something rather daft...i went into my local SUN VALLEY!!!!

An hour to kill and a few bob spare (is it ever REALLY spare?) in my pocket i thought i will just have a look at the new machines out now (WHY?) so in i went.

"hello Phil" says the change lady "Long time no see, hows things?" she asks already making me a cup of cheap foul coffee " I am great, on my way to pick up the missus and me new son " i says "He is the reason you aint seen me in here for a while..been saving up for the new arrival...he was born 3 months premature but i am bringing him home today he is only 4lbs but he is over 2 months old".....i continue...."fantastic!" she says as she gives me my coffee and a handful of "SUPER TOKENS" (They are basically just £1 tokens, she gave me 5) "try these in that machine over there she says" and points me to a MAGIC 7....so with my coffee and my tokens off i trot.

I put all 5 tokens in the machine as i only had about 50 minutes to kill now and blow me if it didn't spin JP straight in..."SUPERB" i thought , no hold so i spun it again JESUS H it only spun JP in AGAIN..."FANTASTIC" i thought and again no hold so i pressed start thinking whatever happens i am off when these tokens run out (£5 if ya remember...17 spins) well anyway guess what..? ONLY SPINS THE JP IN AGAIN!!!!! by now i thought the machine was broke i looked behind me but i hadn't noticed the change woman was already there watching this amazing streak " I knew it was gonna go.." she says "you know that bloke who owns the pizza shop he must have put about £600 in there yesterday and he aint been back today"

The cash was on £75 now so it spat out £25 and i pressed start...nowt ...start again....nowt,....just 12 spins left now i aint bothered but whats this on the 6th spin....3 bars another £10 that'll do....and on the 8th...and on the 9th....what the f*ck is happening i thought? its given me £105 off just over £2's credit....nothing happened for the last 9 or 10 spins i had £55 in the tray and £50 in the machine without spending a penny so i collected it all and asked the question all change ladies love "Have ya got any notes?" she looked like i had just called her a prostitute and snapped " no!" at me.

Ten minutes later i was in the post office paying the council tax bill with £84 pound coins and getting two tenners. I don't think i will go in that arcade again cos i think the change lady will poison my coffee and it got me thinking "that fella who owns the pizza shop put over £600 in there yesterday" IN A £25 JP FRUIT MACHINE??????? If they take that much without dropping then i dont care about poisoned coffee.....i care about food for my beautiful little boy and a roof over the heads of all 3 of us.

As i think you can probably tell i have been gamblin on fruit machines on and off for over 15 years...it's caused rows with my family, my friends and sadly of all the mother of my child...for the first time ever i see that money has a value and when i look at my boys face i can see that the only thing i want to do is bring him up never wanting for a thing which means out with fruities and in with nappies...so to speak and do you know what lads..? I AM REALLY LOOKIN FORWARD TO IT...thanks for lettin me ramble on but i have just spent the first day of my life caring for another human being and i promise ya i aint never felt this good in my life.

P.S. A big thankyou to all the boys who have kept me out of trouble by emulating the machines on this site....keep it up lads!!!!

Congrats to u m8 and ur new born son (whats his name by the way?). Yeah i guess thats my next step in life is to start a family (im 30), but i wanna be financially secure b4 that, i mean if i can't look after myself how am i gonna bring up wife and kids?? lol....but yeah man i see ur point about fruities, i went through a phase where i used to spend all my wages (£200) a week on fruities, but now im doing a final year degree and try to do something with my life after i graduate. with me its not so much the addiction with fruit machines, it was cos there was nothing to do in my home town of Deal. But i have to admit that these emulators not only stop me from playing fruities more often (thus saving money), it also brings back the memories of playing my very first fruit machines (Super Jester,Sunset Boueulvard). In a way i think its good that the machines theyre producing arn't half as fun as back then, cos that way i won't spend the rest of my life in arcades etc.

What a great post. Forget about the fruities (real ones that is) spend your money on your wife and son, i'm sure you'll get ten times more satisfaction out of your family then a few spins out of fruit machine. Take care Irvster

I've seen many a heart felt post like that over the past couple of years and had the old email like it too. Makes all the time spent making machines worthwhile.

Congrats on the new arrival, and keep off the bandits.
