It is probably possible to change the payout to £8 but not £10. Although £8 would more than likely be token JP. You would need a new set of proms to change to £10 JP. The £10 roms are available as they are included with the DX's for eastenders we have. You would need an angineer with a prom burner to make a set of roms and send them to you. Theres a security chip called a characteriser too. I don't know that much about the M1A characteriser so it may be that as long as it is an eastenders program (which it will be) then you might not have to change the CHR chip. If you need to then it makes it a whole lot harder.
One of the engineers here will be able to tell you. To switch to £8 JP (if possible) there is a black switch at the top right hand side of the cabinet when you have the door open. Switch it and reset the machine. This will switch the JP amount if it can be done. Be warned though that it will reset the machine memory too. It isn't dangerous but the machine will start its program again and might take £30 to see a JP.
While you have the machine open its not a bad idea to check the battery on the sytem board. They are prone to leaking and can destroy a board easily if not caught in time. The best thing to do is remove the battery attach some 12" wires to the battery and then solder the wires back onto the board. This means that if the battery does leak it will only damage whatever the battery is attached to and not the board. I use a bit of sellotape and attach it to the cabinet. Doing this will also reset the machine memory so if you are going to do one, then you may as well do the other at the same time.
