£200 Jackpot Fruit Machine (not working) on eBay Fruit Machines, Fruit Machines, Coin-Operated, Video Games (item 170139133519 end time 19-Aug-07 00:03:50 BST)

As the title suggest's a double whammy here..........

Gent's have you any idea what the problem is likely to be? i'd like to think something really simple or cheap to fire her-up.

I'm also curious as to what tech it uses, I read somewhere (I think) it was a sys5, has anyone had success in running it?

Any help appriciated.

Thank youuuuuu

Ady

i think its an old jpm clubber i'm sure it uses sys5 but not 100% sure tho i know jpm had a around the world in 80 days a.w.p a few years ago.

the first thing i would check with a machine that old would be the solder joints or any sign of a corroded battery, wiring connections from mainboard to psu.

hope this info helps ady

It is indeed Sys 5. I think the sound roms were missing, so it looks like it should work.

Well done on your acquisition. :)

...I'm also curious as to what tech it uses, I read somewhere (I think) it was a sys5...

Hmmm, from the photo, I'd say a Bellfruit from early-mid 90's myself, so Scorp2...

...i know jpm had a around the world in 80 days a.w.p a few years ago...

Yeh, back in '94 (The Grid - Swamp Thing; Doop - Doop; Whigfield - Saturday Night; Wet Wet Wet - Love Is All Around, etc), but the name of this machine included the words 'In 80 Days', so I don't think this is the club version of that machine, or even a JPM - I certainly don't recognise any characteristics from the photo...

It is indeed Sys 5. I think the sound roms were missing, so it looks like it should work....

Well I hope you're right, I've been after this one to be emulated for quite a while now, along with that Popeye Jungle Adventure, or whatever...

The AWP was definately system 5 as I can remember playing it as if it was yesterday.
A nice price for an old fruit machine though, well done.

Still can't believe I got Nickelodeon for £2.20 and found £4 in the back whilst cleaning.

Here you go, Ad. I've setup a start to a layout for you. Everything seems to work, even found the sound roms....I think. :D

Looks like it was a runner all the time, just needed to get the reels setup correctly before you loaded the roms in, or it wouldn't work. You couldn't adjust the reels "on the fly"

At least you know it works, so all you need is to get some good snaps of the machine. :)

Loads! :D

Bugs is the master when it comes to the technical side of things. I've just picked up things, and wrote it all down for future reference.

Just glad another oldie will be hitting our PC's in the near future. :)
