hi there everyone, i was wondering about current fruit machines found in pubs etc... and i was wondering what generation they were, i know that the latest emulation available is MP5/scorpian4 but the machines that ran these were out a good 5+years ago....

The main tech being used is probably still mpu5. Which covers Red Gaming ( forget emulating them though missing code to run) Barcrest still use mpu5 but just dont seem to produce many machines anymore. Extreme also use mpu5 too new to emulate probably though. (no roms available too yet)

The only other tech being used now is Scorpian technology scorp4 and scorp 5 eventually will be just scorp 5 covering Bellfruit/Games Media/Cool Games/Mazooma/Voodoo games. No scorp 4 bellfruit rom after 2003-4ish will run in the emulated due to security and them using different hopper technology. the other companies still use scorp 4 (and scorp 5) kits too e.g games media/mazooma, no roms available to see if they are runners though. Latest Mazooma machine emulated is a 2004 model called "Never mind the Jackpots"

Only other tech I can think of is eclipse which is an updated epoch board and used also by Global/Games media but they appear to be gradually turning to the much more efficient scorpian technology.
