Hello,

I highly doubt that this is possible but here goes...

If I where to make a program say in Visual Basic (ie. A Fruit Machine Simulator) would it be at all possible for a coin mech thats used in a fruit machine to communicate with the software and tell it how much the user has inserted?

If a fruit machine coin mech cant do it is there one that can communicate with a visual basic application?

Thanks, Adam

You could probably interface a coin mech to a PC using one of these...

Maplin > USB Experiment Interface Board

You'd have to make an interface for the coin mech to attach to the board, the inputs are just switch contacts so the coin mech output pulse would have to drive a relay or something.

I've got one of those kits at work, I'll have to have a go myself :)

when you look at the in`s and out of the pci i/o card on a paragon or fatbox indie it`s easy how it`s done but really i would take a pass and good luck a little tip you would be better using a sr5 remember to use the serial i/o and not the parallel interface part of the coin mech
.._-=It`s not a problem only a challenge =-_..

As impact said this is what a lot of manu's are using ....
Aardvark
Peice of cake to program, can even be done from VBA in excel !!!
And controls note / coin acceptors, hoppers, switches, led, lamps.....
Very nice piece of kit for about £100,

PS you can even download the SDK from the site which includes examples in c++, delphi, vba and borland C++ builder.

Oh and to top it off they have an sdk for Linux as well.

Or National Rejectors, Inc. GmbH do a coin mech with a usb interface.

Its definately possible using VB its just a question of how you interface it with the pc. Theres a lot of options you just need to chose one you feel comfortable with.

What are you going to do with this mate??

I often wonder if we could make our own machine between us all - We could make a fortune --!! As long as there isn't no bastards make a simulator of it!!! As a manufacturer I would be disgusted!! :p
