Bought new computer yesterday,(other kept crashing). MFME 9.4 works fine up to now, but I've tried MFME 3.2 with Pook's Grand National and the sound is all distorted, game runs ok though. I've tried the newest drivers for sound card , but that made no difference (Realtek High Definition Sound). It's running on a Athlon 64 3800+ processor with Vista Home. Any idea's for a cure would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike.

It's A Compaq PC and in the centre of the print it reads M2N68-LA with a small lablel with HP P/N 5188-07684 C72S057-00607 printed on.There doesn't seem to be a manufacturer name printed anywhere.

Yep..beat me to it Alth..you could try here for the latest drivers..

ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

Please read carefully before installing (upgrading) drivers either take a backup of your current driver or if your Pc came with a motherboard driver disc have it handy..

However it may be a Vista compatibilty issue with the Emulator.

The scratchy sound thing happens with me on Vista as well. Only on machines that use synth sound.

Like MPU3's, and Yamaha machines.

No amount of driver updates have been able to fix it, either.

There are quite a few basic functions on Vista that do not work properly. Every graphic card driver I've installed won't work properly. You can't shutdown the PC without it starting up again.

When you put the PC in standby mode, you can't get back out of it. The screen stays black.

All my new Directx games have lines, and distortions everywhere. It's a bleeding nightmare!

And when I used Sandra to do a report on my motherboard, ram etc, using Vista, it says that my graphic card does not have 3D accelerated hardware, and my soundcard (AC97 onboard sound), is a pile of $&%#?

I know it isn't state-of-the-art (Nvidia 6600 GT), but it isn't a Voodoo 3000. :D

Here's what the report says:

Tip 708 : Wave Input Devices (Recording) : Microphone (2- Realtek AC'97 Au : Mono sound devices are obsolete. Use a Stereo sound device for better sound experience.
Warning 710 : MIDI Output Devices (Playback) : Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth : Driver may be obsolete. Check that it is the latest version.
