Hi, I am new to the forum just joined today. Can anyone help me on a problem i have with my Maygay Eastenders machine? basically on boot up i get the following error "2.1 Reel 1 Fault" This is the original classic Eastenders with the M1a board.

I'd love to get it fixed as its a great machine. Any advice on what to try would be most appriciated.

Many Thanks

Jay

Hi,

I dont know an awful lot about fruit machine maintenance, but it sounds like the reel has got jammed or similar somehow. Can you manually spin it by hand?? I would also check the connections. Look at reels 2 and 3 to see how these work and then make sure reel 1 is the same as them and that nothing is missing, snapped or fallen off.

Hope this helps ???

The Reel Opto is probably a little dirty...Best thing is to clean it and then see how it works.

hello mate

first thing to do is swap the first reel with the second reel.

make sure you plug them in properly!!!

if you still get a reel 1 error then the fault will either be the wiring from the reel 1 position to the board or you have a faulty mpu.

if you now get a reel 2 error then at least you know its the actual reel at fault.

if you do get a reel 2 error then the first thing to do is clean the opto which is the small black u shaped thing attached inside the reel that a thin black paddle passes through.a damp cotton bud usually does the trick.
if this doesn't make a difference then the opto could be faulty or the reel motor could be faulty.

thanks for your help Baz, I tried the reels in another machine and they worked fine so checked the connection to the M1A board and there was some corrosion on the board so i cleaned it and they worked. Well for 5 mins anyway then i think my M1 board packed up. Basically the machine was working but with no lamps then it stopped and re booted twice and then switched off. I have tried the power supply in another machine and that works fine but the M1A board has only the +5v light on now and the other two 12v + and - lights are out, although the minus one came on briefly. Do you think i need a new M1A board then? if so any idea where i can buy one?

Im going to do a post to see if anyone has one.

Thanks again for all your help

Check the power supply harness for burnt or damaged crimps, also check the M1A board and power supply for dry solder joints. If this looks ok get your meter on the harness and see if theres any juice coming from the power supply. If there is then it may be the M1A. More likely to be the power supply though. Theres no need to buy a power supply yet :)

thanks John, i have tried the power supply in another machine and it works fine so i guess its the M1a board. I will check the connections to it and the solder joints tonight and if thats no good then i guess i need a new board.

becareful of the game card fault what the machine trys to do is reset you can hear the relay click the 12v go on then off the reels just move abit then it happens again like a loop

if have another game card swap all the ic over to another one or try your game card into another mpu 1a and power it up

you check the power loom with a meter i take it, if not why go from end to end with the power off

try the above me,baz can still help

hi everyone

Tonight i tried a different power supply loom and then a different power supply itself and still no change (its just the 12v + light that is out on the board) so i then tried the m1a board in a machine that works fine and still no change. So it has to be the board that has gone. So im still on the lookout for a new M1a board if anyone has one? or does anyone have any ideas on fixing the old one?

Thanks

Jay

if u have tryed a different M1a board and still no change then i guess its gotta be either the gamecard itself or the proms av gone scew wiff coz from what am reading u seemed to of tryed everything else including change of virtually everything else in the machine including the loom.
