So a few months ago one of my video fruit machines broke! Well, it broke before that, fixed it and it went again so a plan was made. The issue was the gfx card, so bought a random card that looked 'close enough', but that didn't work.

 

Got an XP pc from ebay for £40 in hope it would just plug in, connect monitors and away I go. Nope! the existing monitors had a non standard power supply. Back to ebay and managed to pick up two nice screens for a pretty good £37! These came, connected those and boom, xp running on the machine via two screens.

 

On to buttons, Slasher suggested an IPAC 2, so grabbed one of those. This turns a micro switch into a key board button as such. Only trouble is, the buttons on my machine were non standard again! So went back, ordered the wiring (was hoping to use the existing wires in the machine). These came today!

 

The button holes were 3mm too small so filed the holes to take my normal buttons. Connected it all up, loaded up mfme, changed the button shortcuts and......

I like it. how does the top feature board work on this as on pc its within the layout itself. Also I can now see what you require regarding the artwork you sent me, whether I can light it is another ??

It's as simple as running the 2 screens on top of each other, nothing to do with running multiple instances of MFME, I assume MFME sees the second monitor as the top of the screen (As most apps will when you have stacked monitors) so by altering the layout & tweaking with the sizes it can appear to utilise both screens.

 

As for coin payouts in theory yes you could, but it would be a ball ache to do as MFME has no clear output interface so unless you hack the program to somehow output pulses the emulator sends to the emulated hopper that's the only real way, would take a lot of coding and know how of each of the techs as well so more hassle than it's worth.

 

Coin input would be simpler i imagine, I'm sure there is a way that the MAME guys use existing arcade style coin acceptors so if you could find how that works & hope there is a keyboard/keypress style output then it's a case of making those input a certain keypress to MFME IE £1 = 0, but then again this boils down to inconsistencies as while most layouts use 0 for £1, not all do and what about those that don't have 5/10/20p inputs? It can be avoided for home use but still one of those niggles as why go through all this effort if you're only using £1 coins?

Been messing about with some gfx, attempting to convert a DX, which is fairly straight forward!

 

How do I lose a pink outline around reels once I set them back?

 

Also I am not going to release any converted layouts to the public as none of it is my original work

if its a dx you may need to blank the reel windows out correctly. without see its hard to tell

wow great bit of kit it's like a fruit machine version of the pinball emu's you see. With potential for you to swap machines in a fruit machine cab as you wish MAX RESPECT for your work though

Its a midas touch, made by gamessoft. It's a good one as it has loads of buttons!
