I'm confused. We were having a civil, sensible discussion. Was it boring you? Did you feel the need to inject some drama?

Hey, for once folks are having an open and frank discussion, in to how things can be improved on the site..... is that such a bad thing, or do you lust for continued conflict?

Going to throw a random idea in here, which knowing the back end of the site, may also take the least amount of work to do.

I feel it's more the wording used in various badges that maybe the thing that causing the most conflit through bragging etc, so here is my idea..... re-word these groups, so they follow something like FME G1, G2, G3 etc, with the G classes referring to a particular user group, being it layout designers, materials contributors, emulator authors, Donors, etc..... makes it so it's not so "in your face"..... I did even think about this for staff too, but I have some doubts due to the way the forum software works if that would be possible for the staff.

In addition, tighten up the rules in the way layouts should be released on the site as I mentioned earlier.....

Maybe more aimed at Alex as the site owner this, but what does everyone else feel abut this?

You're not making any sense. What's that got to do with it anyway?

Good idea. No-one can argue with a democratic process, in theory anyway...

Not sure. I see the idea but it seems like a general obfuscation.

Sorry aaa! Would A £20 donation help? Seriously, not much has really being addressed on this forum in my IMHO, since the return!

Yes please, this site is expensive to run and donations don't cover it. It's lucky we have the income from the adverts too or it would have stayed shut.

Perhaps I haven't really got started yet on the changes? Because I don't rush headlong into doing something daft, without proper consideration first?

Fools rush in.

It's not my site. It belongs to the FME community, I'm simply it's present legal custodian.
If it was my site I would have sold it to an online casino by now...

I appreciate any offers of help though, thank you. I always consider that actions speak louder than words.

It can be seen in that light, but the good thing about this, is something we could try in the interim and see if it works, knowing it's minimal work to do at the minium of cost..... if it then transpires that this idea don't work, then we could go on to plan B, which will probaly be the public removal of these badges, but keep the user groups (Basically make the badge invisible), or whatever yourself, the staff, and the rest of the user base feels would work.

G1,2,3,4 how's that gones work. Whether this minimal problem is addressed or not won't be upto the members at the end of the day. The final decision will be made by staff, there's bigger problems within this site than a piddly banner under one's name. Tell me again on the standard of layouts what standard are you expecting as in layout quality and if say ive dx'ed say sheik yer money @1024wdx which i have who gets the final credit for my work, myself or the other designer on the other layout deamon x. Also still not answered about quality how's a new up and coming creator supposed to get to that standard before releasing anything. I feel on layouts etc we've been here before on here and dadsfme but it gets the site's no where in new member introductions to creating.
We've all burnt a few cakes before we get perfection!
The more I do today, The less I do tomorrow.
Fme is alive and screaming into the 21st century!
Enjoy FME and Happy Gaming!!!!

For Gawd's sake get rid of anything that makes one person look more important or bigger than another, its atte tion seeking and has caused loads of arguments over the years. Why can't FME learn from its own history?

People who have been around the scene the longest all say the same, funny that.

Again if you are releasing layouts or contributing to get a badge then IMO stuff you, you are doing it for all the wrong reasons.... :(

Guess you could have more than 1 "G" then? I could possibly fall into 3 or 4 depending on the criteria.....

Why not just leave things as they are? It has been this way for years , why change?
