Had this laptop given to me to re install windows on and its bugging me now for the product key, thing is its rubbed off completley on the back so I cant read anything!

 

MagicJellyBean Keyfinder finds a key but it says it cant be used because its a (cant remeber the name) but it means a temporary key.

 

I reinstalled Windows using a file I 'came across' but it had no key.

 

Anyone got any ideas on this one ive got 2 days!

Have a look on the manufacturers website - you might be able to download a copy of the original recovery disk and burn it to dvd

Ouch reinstalled you say.......sorry Cardie i'd say goodbye to getting the original key back...

If the key is rubbed off and you know the Manufacturer of the Laptop and if it has home premium etc the keys are normally generic chap. Just google the Laptop name and model number and see if it comes up with the generic Windows Key.

this is for 7 and although people use this to activate rip off versions in your case its legit as you have bought it

I Have A Program (That Shows You The Running Operating Systems Product Key & Other Product Keys Ie MS Office)

But This Needed To Be Run On The Old OS (For It To Read It) 

Looks Like Its Going To Be Along Day Is Your Shoes Or - Walk Your Local Pc Store Pc World & Take Picture Of Its Keycode Or Run A Reader App
