Ok, I definitely feel like progress was made this afternoon. By connecting the hard drive to another computer, I stripped out the game that was installed on the drive, and managed to reinstall the game that was on the machine when it crashed (£35 jackpot rainbow riches). I've also managed to set it back to CAT C which is what the machine was on when it crashed.

It looks as though the only reason the machine wont load now is because the "Game Executive" has failed verification. I've included some screenshots of what I've managed so far, and the last screenshot shows the problem I think I've now got. When I try to run a game, it still says "machine disabled". I'm sure this is because the executive has failed verification.

I just need to get a copy of the Executive from somewhere, load it on, and I reckon thats the machine fixed!

It still has the problem with the 20p in credit, but if I get the Executive, I think it will play the rainbow riches game again, and I can collect the 20p bank, which will sort that.

I wonder if anyone has the executive?!?!

Also, if it makes any difference, I think the executive is version 3.2.3.017, but I can check if necessary.

ARGH! I reckon that program clear card will work better than the new MPU5 and program card I've already bought (thats taken a week to arrive so far, and still hasn't!!!). If the new program card and MPU5 doesnt do the job, then this is what I'll try next!

The game card is definitly in properly, Ive had a mate come and check it and he says that he also reckons it is, so hopefully its fine.

I'm going to go over and have another go with it shortly, so we'll see what happens, but I'll try what you've said!

Finally, getting the bpak for Elvis would be extremely simply, and if you want it mate I'll get it for you and upload it no problems. Just let me know! I presume its the £500 jackpot B3 Elvis top 20 game?

I'll keep you updated if I manage to get the machine working!!!!!!

That would be gr8 m8 if you would, I'd be very grateful £500 jackpot B3 Elvis top 20 game is what I think I might need.

Do you happen to know what version it is by any chance, I been told the earlier the better, that's why I ask, but whatever version it is I'll have a go with.

Thanks

Phil.

PS wouldn't it be easier for you, if your machine was actually in your house rather than at your mates?

Its B3, £500 jackpot, Elvis Top 20 version 1.0 (Build 16).

I'm just setting up an FTP server, I'll pm you the login and password as soon as I've done it, and you can download it whenever you want then :-)

I got the game when I went over to the other place (which by the way, I also now live in! We've moved the machine into my room - separate rooms in a shared house! So I can go over and have a mess about with it any time I want now!)

Moving in there fully in a few weeks time, once I've shifted all my stuff from here lol.

FTP details sent, hope you get what you need!!

Also, let me know if you find anywhere that youcan get the Game Executive from for the Elvis sit down machine!

P.s. cheers for the offer, but I'm not sure if what I need can be copied off the disk... I'm hoping someone has A Game Executive on USB stick, that would be awesome!

Right now I got a problem, I got 'B3, £500 jackpot, Elvis Top 20 version 1.0 (Build 16).' off fruitbash copied it to machine, tried to install it and it went to 100% but then instead of it showing game installed and the option to enable it, screen gone blank and nothing else.

Tried rebooting and pc starts up ok but then screen goes blank and nothing else, it's like it doesn't load the game totally or something.

Is there a way to either install a different game from bios settings or delete the version I just installed?

What would happen if, when I'm in bios I loaded fail safe settings?

Cheers

Phil

Have you tried loading it in door open mode? I've not come across this problem on my machine before.

I tried everything and it won't do anything, I think the problem is that when I installed it, it got to 100% and then instead of going to enable screen, something happened and both screens went blank, been told that it might have fked barboot up and therefore I need a new HD image installing

Hopefully you'll get it sorted quick! I've learned that once my machine is back up and running, I won't be messing around with it :-(

I don't suppose anyone has a hard drive image file for a Barcrest Sit Down machine, presumably with Elvis £500 installed?

Ta :)

Only time in future I'll be messing is when I KNOW I got the right card/chip for it, I can't blame anyone other than myself, but you learn by your mistakes I suppose :o

Yeah, thats what I did too... I suppose I didnt know that the 10p hopper was disconnected, but it all stemmed from that! Least thats fixed now and its just the hard drive which needs sorting!

I'm surprised no one has upped an entire hard drive image yet though, now I think about it

So if you had a copy and a hard drive, what do you have to do to get the image onto it?

I'd have to speak to my mate who would show me how to do it... From what I understand, it has to be done in a specific way, as certain files need to be located in exactly the right place.

It seems that you just "image" the file, i.e. copy it, and then re-locate it in exactly the same place.

Software like Norton Ghost would do the job.

Good News for once, thanks to a certain member who wishes to remain anon, my machine is back to it's former glory, so a MASSIVE THANK YOU to him ;)

I won't be messing again anytime soon  unless I KNOW that the card/pik/Bpak are exactly the right ones, a lesson well learned.

Mind you during this process I found out loads of things I didn't know before so it's not all bad

Great stuff, really pleased to hear that your machine is working again! I bet you learned loads recently!

Just sent my hard drive off to a chap from the Mecca, he's going to clone my hard drive with his own from the same type of machine, which should sort me out no problem!

And, just like you, I learned loads about how these machines operate!

I bet it isn't too hard to become a bandit engineer, its just learning what the common errors are, and how to fix them! I bet its a pretty interesting job actually!
