Afternoon/Evening all, I'm pretty new to the emulation scene (but by no means the fruity scene) and just wondered if someone could please explain to me the all the hoo haa about MFME v.9.4.. Thanks to everyone who's allowed me to play games I never thought I would ever see again by the way :)

Hi welcome to Fruit Emu. Unfortunately you have joined at the time of 9.4 being released, basically this would be MP5/Scorp 4 technology. i.e your more up to date machines.

The last 3 years at fruit emu have all been about the excellant design of the elder generation machines, and its this that most of our good contributors all love and adore.

I suggest you download the fruit machine emulation wizard and a few downloads from the MPU3/4 or JPM section and have fun playing all those machines we all loved years ago.

Dont just jump straight into 9.4, the latest machines are the worst...

Hi and welcome

Got to agree with this - I have had many more hours fun playing the older emulations than the newer ones... I am not sure whether it's just the memories, or whether the newer machines have lost something in their pursuit of the pound.......

If you are desperate for the 9.4 version of MFME (which doesn't run a lot of the old games) then do a search through forums and you will find links to get to it. Although I agree with the gman - try version 3.2 first and play some of the older machines..

Thanks for the reply.. To be honest, I'm not a lover of a lot of the new games.. I was more into it in the early-mid 90's, my favourites are the likes of 7 heavens, grab the bank, big banker, pound stretcher, cash explosion, each way nudger etc..quite liked the barcode series later on but was getting out of it by then, or should I say eventually counting my losses ;)
I've downloaded a couple of the emulators and roms and can't believe just how spot on they are, even down to how they play! I got a hold of winsprint and it is perfect really.. I was looking around for jokers wild, has that been emulated??

LOL.

The reason they feel "real" is because they're. :)

The roms are taken from the actual machines, using a thing called an eeprom reader, then they're dumped to the PC in '.bin' format, so that they can be used by the emulator.

The rom for Jokers Wild is available, but unfortunately it doesn't currently work correctly on the emulator.

All the other machines you mentioned in the first paragraph are available in the downloads section on this site.

Welcome aboard. :)

Managed to get hold of all of them I mentioned and a couple I never really got the chance to properly. They just got more expensive and less fun I reckon as time went on. I'm not harking back to the good old days but there was a time when I knew a game would go on a run or streak, 7 heaven was classic for that. We used to have a big row of them in the arcade I 'lived in' and so you could check if it was delaying or kicking as we called it. And then the old 10p unlimited hold on a win trick which wasn't actually illegal for a while, but they soon brought a patch out when they twigged on.

I don't know if anyone can remember kriss-kross and is it emulated? The one I played was 20p and it was about 15 years ago now. It had red and blue criss-crosses and you needed to get them in view to start a run. No idea who it was made by (possibly maygay). But sometimes that would give you unlimited creds with a payout straight after the win.

Oh the good ol´days eh!! :bigeyes16:
