Just got my shiny new (2nd hand) machine as a gift. Big gift. :)

Would like to add a note acceptor to it - but with no manual, I'm not sure which one I need!!

Also, would like to know what system the machine uses - they seem to be quite different to the MPU3s and MPU4s I was used to back in the day...

And if anyone knows where I can get a manual for the machine, I'd be well chuffed too!!

Thanks :)

you machine system is a epoch mpu

dills on the bottom half of the bank ie from the bottom dill2 will drive a nv4 from the mpu in a serial mode with out the need for a whats call c/c talk programmed note acceptor. dills 2+4 will drive a nv4 from the hopper driver pcb which is fixed to the side of the cabnet on the right above the epoch mpu under that black cover if yours has been fitted with the black cover that is. not what the coin mect is plug into the will be a std nv4 parallel verson a nv4 smile face is also need + the need for a note rundown or a shoot ,a note box and the most other inportant part the loom.

if you dills at the bottom are all in the on setting use the top bank the bank close to the audio out port thats the black plug with the red and black wire coming outy from it
.._-=It`s not a problem only a challenge =-_..

Thanks for the info, Impact.

I actually found a helpful person at Maygay who has sent me a manual FOC - my EPOCH board says 'EPOCH' on it, which kinda gave away the game there - I should have looked more closely - and yeah, it has a 25 pin "computer" serial port on it.

That said, it also has a computer type RJ45 port on it labelled 'Comms Port' - any ideas for that one?

I do have another more worrying problem with the machine though...

I can't seem to enter test mode, change percentages, clear RAM etc - and it states the hopper is full. Sadly, the hopper is empty. I want to play it, and win £s, but I don't want to have to fill it with £s first. The only way I know to dump hopper is to use test mode. Which I can't get into.

Inside my cab there are 3 buttons - a red and a green inside the top (service) door - and a green inside the bottom (cash) door. The red one on the top makes a noise from the speaker when pressed - the others do nichts.

If ever I open either the top door or the bottom door, the machine enters "Demonstration Mode" - and it even tells me this through the speakers. But I WANT TEST MODE!! :p

Are there any tricks I'm missing here - as the manual 'procedure' doesn't seem to get me there either. :(

Ross.

hello

look on the epoch board and there will be a small round grey button.

open the top door and once the machine has powered up push the the little grey button on the epoch board.keep it pressed and then press the red button(beside the green button at the hopper).

machine should then be in test mode.

Ah yes, the button on the main PCB - I saw that, and wondered what it was for, and how it worked - press and hold, then press 'red'.

I'm sure it doesn't say that in the manual...

I will try that tomorrow.

Thanks!!!

Just to say - it's funny what 'experience' can show, as opposed to "official" knowledge. As for entering test mode (taken from the machine's manual direct from Maygay):

Initiating Test Mode
To enter test mode the machine must be turned on and the service door open. If the test switch is pressed once, the machine will enter test mode.

Then it goes on about buttons LH1 LH2 LH3 and RH1 RH2 RH3 etc. To start with, I figured that RH1-4 were REEL HOLD buttons - but since I saw some LH buttons, I guess they're just counted from the left (or right) by X number - (LH1 being the leftmost button, RH1 being the rightmost button etc.)

Nowhere in the whole of the manual does it tell you what the red and green buttons are for, nor the green button down below. And there's no single mention of the button on the EPOCH board itself.

Thanks for all your help folks...

And er... "thanks" for all your "help" Maygay manual.

R.

PS: Does anyone have an NV4 with serial loom going spare? ;)

Hello dear friends...

After a few home modifications to my machine, I'm now in need of a little more help with my machine.

How can I alter the CashPot / Reserve levels? I did a RAM reset, but they stop at £250... can't find a way to do it in Test Mode either.

Also, my power-supply buzzes. Vibration-wise, from the transformer. i've opened it and lagged it which has eased it slightly, but it's still noisy... as is the speaker. It buzzes "in time" with the flashing security light on the front, near the refil key.

A nice mod for me, was to replace the refil keyswitch with a 3way switch, as it's used in the home... refil, normal, demo - without opening up. :)

If anyone can help, would be well pleased. :)

Thanks!

I'm guessing it's something to do with the DIP switches?

There's 2x banks of 8 switches on the EPOCH board, but no indication of what is what.

I bet one of those is the option there... :) but WHICH ONE?? lol.

Please help me.

I.

Why don't you post us a few pictures of your machine so we can see what you are on about. It would be interesting and may help the people on here be of more help to you! :)

Sure, I'll do that.

How do I get it in the scanner without breaking it? ;-)

No, seriously - I'll get some photos, and of the board etc...

Sneaky: what a way with words you have lol. ;)

Mine's set on 10/20p dual stake, and 90% for family and friends. When we had builders in recently, I must have accidentally knocked the switch down to 70%... don't know how that happened... heh.

Cheers :)

Here we go... a few photos

The main board / roms, the reels (why?), the machine itself, and a piece of paper attached to the back of the machine, which is of no real use for my problem, but may be of use to others...

Comments etc, please :)

Oh, and if you can help with my problem... that'd be grand too :p
