Hi guys
Just something I wanted to point out, to make life better for everyone
I just downloaded Bazzers very good considering the base artwork flash cash.
A mighty fine layout.
However, Im using 1024x768, and I couldnt scale the layout because it was too big for the screen.
And so, I thought Id put out a reminder that now that we can scale layouts you should make them nice and small (lower than 640x480) and THEN release them.
This way people can stretch them to fit, instead of not being able to grab the edge of the layout and shrink it.
Might be a good idea to make this sticky, laptop owners will surely be very grateful

I had to read that several times before I got what you are on about. For a minute I thought you meant designers should do 640 x 480 layouts lol
I see what you mean, but surely by clicking the Maximise/Restore Down button and dragging the whole screen dpwn slightly (so you can see the edge), you should then be able to resize the screen right down to - say a small box, drag the box into the middle of the screen, then click Maximise button to make it full screen which should then fit perfectly.

some of the alphas, even on 1280x versions, are absolutly aweful. i dont think scaling to 640x would make things better.

I think you have missed the point somewhat
What Im saying is make them small enough to fit *any* desktop (640x480 is the smallest you can run in 98 me 2k) and then people can scale them bigger to fit what they are using.
Hopefully it makes some sense now

I'm sorry, but I still don't understand... is there some new way of making the layout so it enlarges with the screen now?
as surely streching the corner on a 1024 x 768 just shows the unused bit of the screen?
Of will this be a future thing?
Just tried 'resizing' a layout and it just cuts the screen off if you make it smaller.

Dad, your method does not work for me.
TBH Im not really bothered, because I run 2048x1280 back home, but I have been testing MFME3 on a 1024 merely for the point of catering to all.
And thus to explain this properly I am going to go into some detail.
This is aimed *only* at designers because it is up to them to make their layouts playable for all, at any res.
Firstly create your backdrops as large as you want, it doesnt matter.
Then make the layout.
Then, *before* you release it make it small enough so that people with lower resolutions are able to grab it AT THE BOTTOM.
See the pic below, I can quite happily grab the side and squash it horizontally, but vertically I am absolutely f***ed and screwed.
And so you see, what's the point in adding a scale down for people to use if THEY CANT USE IT BECAUSE THE ART HAS BEEN LEFT FULL SIZE?
Dad, I tried your technique, it went full screen and looked the same as it does in this pic (with the buttons barely showing after I drag it up.
My point remains that with this particular layout (And Im only using it as a reference point so Im not picking on anyone) Im screwed to make it any smaller.
So, make your layout as big as you like, then make it small enough SO THAT EVERYONE CAN ACCESS THE BOTTOM TO RESHAPE IT, then save it out and release.
Then, anyone can grab the bottom and the side and shape/size it to fit any desktop.
See the red arrow? well thats where Id like to be able to grab it to make the layout smaller, but I cant.
PHEW

I may have missed the point completly here...
But i have just tried that In MFME V2, As you cant save the layout in V3....
Opened it up in V3 and it was small, When you come to drag it back out, it just expands the bit that was veiwable in V2.?
If any of that makes sense? lol

He's saying thats designers should make their layouts as big as they like, but re-size it to 640 x 480 before saving it and releasing it. This means that everyone loads it up at 640 x 480 for the first time, and then resizes it to whatever they like.
p.s. I've already tried making a layout at a massive res, but it only resizes to the maximum resolution of your monitor. So I'm saying that if I create a layout at 3200 x 2400, I can only see 1600 x 1200 of it as thats the top res for my monitor - the layout is therefore cropped

Or just wait till v3.01 comes out which will solve the problem. Or do the job yourself in v2

I thought some designers could not give a rats ass about 'all' and just made their layouts to cater for themselves and a few chums.

Unfortunately this doesn't work because when you load into v3 any object (lamp, button, reel) etc that is off the visible screen (or overlaps around the edge) it is automatically deleted before the graphics setup is converted.
I downloaded Club Explosion from this site (which was hard to find, for some reason it is still called Cash Explosion and has been put in the MPU4 section!!) and when opened it is sized so that the reels are half cut off. Load this into 3 and you will find you have no reels and an alarm!
