Please do not link any of my stuff.

The donation system that you talk of will support here which is great for here - but you know what - why should the work that I do support another site if people donate to here through your program on a basis that my work supports another site ?

100% of the money raised goes into DIF and is used for DIF.  We've barely broken even to last year - but hell we try.

I will not allow you to use layouts that I have done that helps fund anything but DIF as these sites don't magically pay for themselves.

Hiya,

That's not a problem, I'm more than happy to not link to your stuff. That's a shame as you (and your forum members) make some fantastic layouts, it has to be said!

Nonetheless, it's your stuff, and your forum, and you can rightly and correctly decide what happens to it.

Any donations via my program would go straight (and directly) to any site which the program linked to (no money would go through any of my accounts). You are correct - why should donations go somewhere else if someone downloads content from your site.

Regardless of any present or historical differences between us, I still want your site to succeed for you. It's a good one, and deserves it. I know that you put in a lot of hard work.

I am not saying don't link forum member stuff - just mine.

That's for clarity.

Forum members choose to post there and that is their choice - but anything from the Download area that Reg has posted is out of scope.

Just for the record, DADsFME is hosted by Alex (FruitEmu) who also owns the domain name therefore all questions related to this issue should really be directed at him.  So far DAD's has happily survived with unlimited downloads with no resrictions apart from registering in the first place and I see no reason why this should change TBH.

Lets imagine, for a moment, that someone thinks "Ah, I used to play a game - I'm damned if I can remember what it's called though". How can they search for that? At least with my program they could click through the machines until they saw a picture of a machine and "Bingo! THAT'S what I've been looking for!!!".

I've got every layout ever publicly released for MFME etc.  I also have in game pictures for every layout.  This has been common knowledge since year dot.  Also the DVD etc etc etc... so really all people had to do is ask.  If that's not too much trouble...

They have to know about that, to begin with. I, for example, did not - therefore there will be others who do not.

even you system won't work for that i mean there's literally 1000's of layouts including classic layouts, if i was to search for a machine i vaguely knew i'd still have to search the entire data base on your programme even with pictures, which fruit-emu's download section has.

i've tried searching for a machine i once played but as i can't  remember the  machine title its pointless, i've searched every download section across the forums, even search geddy's dvd's so i assume its not emulated yet, once i remember the name then i can search in more detail.

Ooh I'm interested! Can you remember any of the details of the machine at all?!

It was on either £4.80 or £6tokens
Gold bells for token jp ,silver bells for cash jp
It had the usual plums, grapes and cherries, the bells were kind off squashed similar to empires 2p pinball machine
The machine was in the pub around 1993 same time as Andy Capp they replaced it with spot on by pcp so maybe from that manufacturers. Of which I had the pleasure to emulate like a few other favourites of mine from that era.

Like Pook said, HOMEWORK.  The guy has been around the scene long enough (under a different nickname) to know what the 'score' is.  I'm fairly sure he was aware of the possible outcome of this.  I mean even Wizard posted a 'is it okay if I release a new emulator...' type thread before he did it.  Would it have been good form to post this tool as a WIP first to gauge response.. I think so.

Same secrecy, cliquey backstabbing etc etc... you know why?  Because people like yourself and fruitnutter etc turn up back here with new nicknames too 'afraid' of your past to admit who you really are then 'demand' we follow your tune.

....that is what I'm damn well saddened by. :(

This is 100% correct.

But now is the pivotal moment for the so called scene newbies.

Now is the time to decide which path to take I really hope it's the one that realises the past is now the past and everyone works together to further the scene.

The machine described was in the Burstin Hotel in Folkstone around about 1993, along with one called Rainbow Gambler.

Will have to have a think and see if I can remember the name or not...

Just to be clear, although I own the domain and commission the hosting, I take no part in the running or management of the DADSFME site nor any decisions related to how the site operates.

Very true

Hi Geddy - obviously we work from the same info that you see here is what I see at DIF as Moderators etc.

You don't need to be a site owner or moderator. I sussed him straight away, just by reading his style of posting.

Why are you so absolutely intent on getting rid of me?

You REALLY need to ask this question?

Can't you just let things lie?

You'd LOVE that, wouldn't you!

Can't you see I'm trying to help the emulation scene?

Translation...... I'm trying to help myself....again!

Why try to continuously get rid of me until I just get fed up and leave. Doesn't make any sense my man.

It makes loads of sense to quite a lot of people.

A closed scene is not a good idea at all. It creates anger and frustration.

Obviously you're speaking from experience here.

I'll admit, there has been a time where I've had something that a lot of people wanted, and I didn't share it.

Slight understatement there!

That was wrong of me.

Correct.

In my defense, it cost a lot of money.

No excuse and lies starting to creep in here.

However, i didn't play the situation well. We live and learn. No one is perfect.

No sh1t Sherlock!

In all honesty I think this is a bit out of order.

I'm not scared of any past. Sometimes people have reasons for doing things, and perhaps that could be respected a bit more.

Does this mean we can discuss openly on here, just exactly what you did?

Respect is something which is earned. S good way for you to begin this process would be for you to start repaying some of what you took from people.

I don't think I should apologise for attempting to better the scene and make a contribution of my own. Yes, it turned out to be unwanted, so I disabled it. I would say that shows that I listen to general consensus and attempt to learn.

Can you not see why someone might think "I tried to do something helpful (however misguided), and got a load of shit back for it, so f*** 'em!"?

So that it's logged for posterity.....

Somewhere, somehow, there will be an opportunity for you to make money from this.

Sussed for trying to provide something helpful to the scene? Yep, big problem that, I guess. Turns out they didn't want it anyway, but how was I supposed to know that.

I know you hate me, that's fine, it's your prerogative and you're welcome to stick to it. I don't care either way. Nothing like holding a grudge a year after something happened though, is there. Anyway, if you want to know what I think about that particular matter, then this is it: why should I have shared something immediately after it cost me £1500 to obtain? I'd have given it out at some point but I wasn't ready to do so at that time, and everybody pushing me forced me to do what happened.

There was a very useful forum on the T7 providing much information and help to people with those particular machines. Unfortunately things got nasty and now that information is lost. Newbies to that machine now have nowhere to go, apart from Reg's (very good) forum, but the problem is that you won't find that anywhere by doing a google search. It seems very much a shame to me.

By the way, not sure what the CM is in your mesage. You're right about the others though.

I'll tell you something though... life is short, and it seems a waste to spend it hating other people. No one knows when it will end. Be kind.

I think it's more of a working together as a group, but you made the breakthrough and tried to sell it to us, and did in cases.

Yeah, that's how FME started, look at it now!

Ah ok yes I get CM now.

And yes, I did... I look back at that with regret, but I can't change the past unfortunately.

I very much enjoyed seeing people enjoying their machines, pictures of which would appear on the forum.

Fruit Machine Emulation in general is great! Seems to be going from strength to strength. A little unnecessarily argumentative at times, it seems, but there we go.

So, do I regret what I did? Yes. Just don't forget, people are battling their own demons every day, no one knows what others are going through behind closed doors, and why they do the things they did. Thanks :)
