You had like £30 or something like that, he would give you virtual money when you logged on, not sure if it was weekly but it was pretty sweet.  It made you take crappy features sometimes as you didn't want to go skint with bfh scenario.   So you played machines very differently as a result.  In mfme, as you don't get a limited budget you can just go for top features etc, it gave you a sense of actually stepping into an arcade, you are the only person playing the same ram file in mfme.  Obviously this new autofeature changes that as you can leave that playing a machine normally and come back to it with it maybe playing very differently compared to what you are used to.

I wonder if it is possible to add a 'turbo boost' on the autoplay feature?

Ah ok, I see, everyone had a username/password. You logged in and got £30, reset every weekly.

You played machines, any available for the emulator I assume and not limited to one machine and once it was gone, it was gone.

I do sometimes, say to myself, ok £10 - £50 depending on what machines I'm playing, see how long it lasts. Yes it does then, make me play other features, rather than just going for it. I have left a few machines buzzing by running out of money. We have so many machines playable, if you're disciplined enough, you can easily go on to play other machines and forgot then it's a nice surprise when you come back to it, months later.

Probably I'm talking bollocks, but hey what's new.  :cute:

You could build your own virtual arcade and when logged in you chose the arcade you wanted to play in, they would have machines to play, you could only play if the machine wasn't occupied.  I remember being sharked on Club Cops n Robbers, been playing for a while, then logged out as I went out for a meal, when I came back someone had squeezed the cashpot out...   I was a little bit gutted as I'd amassed quite a bit of cash from playing the normal AWP and had invested it into this.

Not at all, that's exactly what I often do when I fire up a machine in the emulator, just say to myself 'Right you've got £20 and then you're skint', or £30 or £50 or whatever, with some of the more modern AWPs I'll go £100, £150 etc. Point being I'll sometimes set myself a limit, use F11 to change the session stats to Profit/Loss, and when it's gone it's gone, at which point I close the machine down. (And that then does the other thing you're talking about there, which is that the machine is in an 'unknown' state next time you fire it up, because you've forgotten what happened last time :D)

I can see the appeal of what's being described with Amber's online functionality, and if it ever happens in MFME then for sure that'd be cool, but TBH with the autoplay feature now in MFMEV6 the 'grind' element of getting a machine settled down and in a natural state is completely answered, and it's pretty easy to just share RAM+GAM files with each other, Reg even has a thread over at DIF for them.

There is the question of when does an emulator stop being an emulator, and I quite like the way MFME is such a compact, efficient, reliable chunk of code - does a 'virtual arcade' really fit into that mould?

It's Just like highscores in mame to a point.   It would make the experience more realistic but it's not for everyone and it wouldn't need to be a compulsory part of mfme.  Maybe a third party could develop this type of feature in the future.

LOL, just like you could in a real arcade. As annoying as it may be, that sort of thing does appeal to me.

But as Chopley says, when does and emulator stop being an emulator and I like the simple looking, minimal interface of MFME, with all the power hidden underneath the hood.

Would definitely be in though, if a 3rd party project was done for this sort of thing.

Those reels would do that if you took a £70 offer lol. Just a bit of bad coding :)

Edit, they can go from mega streak to not boarding! Sick when it did that.

And now for a classic old ACE machine, 'Pay Rise', running an early 0.1 ROM set with the free win/emptier combo (if piloted with sufficient skill) still present. The Trouty & Bugs layout we've had since 2006 for this machine has been running the 0.6 ROMs, which had this chipped out.

And indeed, thanks to Trouty & Bugs for the layout, and the ROM provider!

The Royal Oak in Radcliffe is still going strong Alex!

Not watched the video yet, but this is one machine, we could do with a nice DX update.

Yes, SlotsTragic (I mean 'Magic') never replaced or matched it in anyway at all... just another bog-standard casino took over from them, sadly.

WMS obviously saw enough money to be made by licensing their slots to numerous casinos.

There is of course also the absolute rip off madness of paying real money and lots of it for fake coins on their Facebook/Apple/Android app.

Keeping it back in the golden era of AWPs with this one, but dredging down into the shady depths of dodgy dealings,

THE PLUG/SPARK.

Amazing how well this layout holds up some 13 years (!) after its original release.

Another enjoyable vid.

I don't think I'd have the guts or hold my nerve to have plugged them back in the day.

Agree the layout still looks great, after all these years.
