Doubt the cpu will be powerful enough for some fruits and probably only the older arcade games.

Pi3 isn't that powerful when compared to an Asus Tinker Board.  I very nearly bought an intel Atom based 'Up-Board' was going to build a small mfme cab but never got round to it.

Didnt know there was anything else out there. Just had a look at one of these and probably would of ordered one. As for the intel atom would you be to run ps2 on this? and would it run ok connected to external hardrive?

PS2 is a tough one, might struggle to be honest.

...but I don't have much experience in PS2 emulation to be fair, probably check a youtube video.

Thinking of getting a raspberry pi 3.

Is there anything better out there? I have a 100 odd gig image or retropie, or something like that.

How does the playstation 1 run on this? Pretty much the main reason I want one :)

Might be ok Spa, but there are more powerful little boards out there.    Asus Tinker board for one :)

I don't have one, was going to get one a while back but never got round to it.

I think you can get the Tinker board from Curry's.

Playstation games run rather well if you optimize your settings, some dreamcast games can run well too, get a heatsink and fan in there and you can overclock it for a bit better performance. the pi3 b+ is the best option right now and use low resolution for the emulators and most n64 and psx games are very playable. I have about 800GB of roms on the one I built as well as kodi etc. Used one of the nintendo mini cases like shown above. I am not a fan of attract mode as they generally cause more overhead and heat. I use my own modified mini snes layout and categories and images because most do not come with desktop icon etc to run a Linux kernel (pixel desktop)

Thinking of getting a raspberry pi 3.

Speed wise?

You can't beat a decent pc based build for an emulation box.

I have a mini wintel box, it's micro small and handles most older systems but dreamcast struggles in some games. My version is cherrytrail based.

I have a Rasperry pi and I've built myself an arcade cabinet. If anyone is struggling with Retroarch best thing to do is just copy an image. If you have kids i suggest you look at running 'kiosk' mode. Great bits of kit. Back up your image often :)

You mean retropie not retroarch never seen the point of turning a computer into a glorified console it can do so much more

Yes both- all the menus in Retroarch can be accessed from any inputs...its very easily messed up.
Thousands upon thousands of games all laid out nicely? No point in that?
