Hi folks after all my experiments and being told off by several people I was given the opportunity to join a T7 site and it worked wonders I've know got my hard rive cloned to perfection not once but twice so I can play and play to my hearts content.

What do you mean by getting your "hard drive cloned". If you mean it the way I understand it then you can use some free software called "Macrium Reflect" for this.

It'll allow you either "clone" your hard drive (make an exact copy of it) or "image" your hard drive (basically make a zipped type copy of all the important stuff but leaving out blank sectors on the drive etc).

:)

The software isn't the issue, the issue was the HDD, the T7 machines are very VERY picky about the drives used in them (Usually they need to be the exact same model number, same number of platters etc). So while making a copy is easy, If the drive dies getting a replacement one can be a slight problem.

Glad you've got it sorted Tomasone

okay boys here's a question for you Clone WD800AAJS-007AO cost £35 France it worked immediately when I applied Reg's instructions to it. Thought about getting another spare but the only one at a cheap enough price is a 160g drive but same ending code 007A0 would the size of the drive make a difference?

Well guys heres the interesting thing... If you have a T777 with an exec 3.21 or lower, then you really can use any drive, and here is how -:

Some T7 will accept any drive

Some will just accept Western Digital

Some will only accept the EXACT same model drive.

But here is the solution (all credit to Reg for finding this)...

If you copy your image file onto a drive, and you get the blue screen of death, just boot up your normal PC using Hirens Boot CD, select "Registry" and "Hard disk fix". Run the fixer program on the drive.

Boot up, and your T7 will now accept that drive, and it will load and run just fine.

This does NOT work on any exec after 3.21. The reason is that 3.21 and below do not do a "system" verify, which is what would catch this fix as a problem. So any exec 3.21 or lower, this is the perfect fix!

Any exec after that, you've got to either be lucky, or just find the exact drive!

Reg did this and got to the point whereby his machine would load, but said "verification failed" (due to his game executive being a recent one)... whereas mine actually loaded and runs the games just as it should, as it has an older exec.
