even if the machine is dropping from genuine play, it means sod all. it can still rip you for a wedge. even if the hopper only had £1 in it and the machine wants to payout, it will do so. just means it will need to be refilled to continue.

the state of the hoppers, note acceptor, blah, blah etc..will have no bearing on how the machine performs.

a good example would be "vegas nights". if you are on the top feature and the bank limit is reached whilst still in the feature, the machine will payout the bank. if it runs out of coins whilst trying to pay you out, it will ask for a refill. if the owner of the machine then refills the machine via the refill key (without opening any doors as this will kill the feature) the feature will then continue as if nothing has happened.

The machine will payout its target percentage no matter what the hopper state is. (eventually)

The fruits in my local get refilled every single night without fail. Unless of course they don't need to be

Does anyone really still believe "it's backing so it'll payout soon"? I thought that went out with the Big Reds that backed for a bit and then went back to the hopper. Same as the old looking up through the reels to see if the coins tubes were full - all a bit ancient history now...

Yes they do, and they're bantha fodder to the fruit machine industry.

I play today's £70 pub machines VERY casually, and over the years I've gotten lucky a few times and gotten £140 off a Bellfruit for a few quid in. On NONE of these occasions was the machine backing, and actually a few times the machine ran empty before finishing the payout.

If backing was trully a long-term advantage to anyone, they'd have phased it out long ago.

Its good practice to keep machine topped up , less hassle. ie running empty and muppets think its ready to drop.
