Hi Daryl, I'm so, so sorry to hear this sad news mate.

I can sympathise with you as it's only a few months since I lost my own Mum.

It's the worst thing in the world.

Cherish every second of the time you have left with her, months may not seem long to you, but I'd have given anything for that. As it was, we were told hours, but only had 13 minutes.

You are in my thoughts and prayers, and you know where I am if you need anything.

Take care of yourself mate.

Lots of love.

Phil x

Sorry to hear this Daryl, as they say a person can have many Dads but only one real Mum.

I recently lost a close friend to cancer and it helps a little to remember "Out of pain now"

She is so lucky to have such a loving caring son. I have followed hers and your paths on FB and until very recently the great pictures when you take her to Morrisons for trips out. I wish you strength through the coming months ahead and calm and peace to your mam. All the best mate.

+++update+++

I lost my sister last week, sadly... it was sudden and unexpected and her death has come as quite a shock.

Today, I have received a text and email from my GP and hospital asking me for my own health and safety, and to save burden to an already crippled NHS system, so self-isolate for 12 weeks, in order that I may not catch this virus that is causing untold misery to people all around the world.

A few days ago, we received news that my mum's dementia is worsening and is causing certain organs in her body to fail - the doctors have said that she has probably got less than a month to survive - her carehome is in lockdown, so I can't visit her and now I've been advised that I cannot leave my home anyway for at least another 3 months.

Because of all this, I will probably miss my sister's funeral, I won't be able to be there when my own mother dies and more than likely will have to miss her funeral as well...

I'm saying all this not for sympathy...

I just want people to try and be kind to each other - life is precious, and so are the people that live them... show each other respect, not only here, but in real life too.

Peace and love,

Daryl x

So so sorry to hear this news Daryl. That is heartbreaking mate :(

Obviously there aren't any words that can help your anguish at the moment but, suffice to say, I'm reaching out to you across this 'virtual void' to offer you my sincere condolences and a hearty hug.

Stay safe and reach out to support either through a site like this or professional helplines whenever you want some support.

My best wishes

John

Just had a little two minute video 'chat' with my Mam on Facebook Messenger...

She recognised who I was as soon as she looked into the phone screen and went 'oohh' and tried to get me, bless!

I so needed that after the last two weeks of isolation and my sister's funeral, her daughter's... with the lockdown and madness this world is currently finding itself in, these little things make a massive difference to your life - today was one of them!

My sister's wreaths from my Mam and the rest of us...

I'm glad your 'Mam' recognised you when you spoke to her.

The world is a scary place to be at the moment, like you I am now facing this on my own for the first time in my life.

As I said before we are a 'Community' so we all wish you well Daryl. I'm sure you have good friends and neighbours to keep an eye on you.

Take Care, Be safe

Regards

Ricardo.

My Mam is at end of life...

I had a call two nights ago to go and say goodbye to her in her care home... She was in a lot of distress but wasn't responsive to my voice. I had to dress up in full PPE equipment and have my temperature taken, as they made an exceptional decision for me to be allowed to say goodbye to her because she has been there so long and over the years have built up an incredible bond with some of the staff there - I thank them with all my heart for allowing me to be with her, one last time.

The nurse came and after discussions with me and my stepsister, decided it was time for her to start her 'end of life' medication that had been placed by her GP when she came out of hospital 6 months ago. So she was given an injection of morphine, which had allowed her to go into a coma in which she is now comfortable but will not recover from.

It is just a matter of time now... I'm putting this status as I've decided to let you all know now this is how it is.

I love her, I will always love her and I'm just waiting now until it is time.

Daryl x

My deepest sympathies Daryl mate.

How kind of the staff to allow you your goodbye.

She will now be out of pain and distress and you have to play the waiting game.

Stay strong and safe, she's proud of you, you know, so very very proud.

X
