As you may know I try scanning glass etc.....

Its been joked about how dusty they were when at a hi res, basically where I have dragged glass over it time and time again I have put far too many small scratches and pit-marks on it to be of any use anymore.

Yesterday I went into the loft and found my 'old but trusty' PRIMAX Colorado USB 9600.

Problem I have is no drivers that want to know!.....and the Ones I had were on an old 3.5" floppy (thats how old it is!)

I'm running XP Home and tried compatability mode but still no joy from the drivers I can find are from non-sign-up sites.

As I use my scanner 99% of the time for FME I came here for any help, especially if anyone does belong to a drivers site.

Ta for reading, and hopefully I can get this running as it does the job.

Before its said............yes I know you can buy a scanner for 20p at any Charity shop!! but this suits my set-up if that makes sense.

Primax Colorado USB 9600 Driver Download

theres a 50/50 chance according to another forum :p

this is what i found & a few people have said it works

1. UNPLUG AND DISCONNECT THE SCANNER

2. DOWNLOAD THE DRIVER FROM THIS LINK: (id it isnt attatched try downloading, im trying but rapidshit is being.... shit)

RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

NOTE: IT IS A ZIP FILE AND NOT AN .EXE WHICH MAKES THINGS A LOT EASIER LATER ON...

3. COPY PISMUSBENG.ZIP TO C:PROGRAM FILES
... and move to C:Program Files

4. UNZIP PISMUSBENG.ZIP 'HERE'
(a) Use a file extractor program to unzip it - I use IZARC, there is also 7ZIP

(B) Choose to unzip it 'here' - you don't need to create a new folder because all the files are contained
within a folder PISMUSBENG.

(To do this with IZARC, I simply right click PISMUSBENG.ZIP, choose IZARC and the EXTRACT HERE on the menu that pops up)

© So now you should have a folder C:PROGRAM FILESPISMUSBENG

5. RUN SETUP
(a) Move into the folder : C:PROGRAM FILESPISMUSBENG
(B) Double click on the file SETUP (the one with a blue screen icon labelled "32-bit Setup Launcher")
© After this has run, it should ask you to restart your computer.

6. REBOOT THE COMPUTER

7. PLUG IN YOUR SCANNER
(a) When windows has loaded up, plug in the scanner
(B) Connect the USB lead
© You should now see a box pop up saying "New Hardware found USB Colorado 9600"
(or something similar)
(d) The Hardware Installation wizard should now start automatically

8. HARDWARE INSTALLATION WIZARD
(a) Click NO - you don't want to look on the internet
(B) Click "install from a list or specific location"
© Choose "Search for the best driver in these locations"
(d) Tick the second box "Include this location in the search"
(e) If you did it exactly as I described, the location you need to put here is:

C:PROGRAM FILESPISMUSBENGOT1DRIVERSOS

If you put it somewhere else, it is in wherever you put PISMUSBENG, then....OT1DRIVERSOS

(f) Click next and you should be done!!
