Also, as there's no cash in to start with, but we tried it with a 50p and won, it now says IOU. Any ideas how to get rid of this without filling it?

Roller coaster is use the refill key and press hold 1 to access volume hi lo.
If its tubes, you will see a switch on the tubes (level sensor), held on by a rubber band, move it up above the notch, you will have to pull it forwards to get it out on the notch.
